Fouls off the 2nd pitch, and chases a slider that starts on the corner away, turns left, and wound up about 6 inches outside, K, 1 down.

Takes a high slurve just outside middle, 0-2
Spits on the back leg slider, 1-2
Slider on the corner down and in had good drop, so he tops it foul off 3rd.
Sinker bounced over the inner half of the plate, 2-2
Chases a sinker 4-5 inches outside at the knees, fouls it off
Four pitches since 0-2.
Cutter down and in, 3-2
Cutter is supposed to be outside, but hangs thigh high, middle of the zone, and Alvarez hammers it the front of the 2nd deck in right, solo HR makes it 1-0 Astros.

Yanks a slurve, bounces it outside, 1-1
Fouls off a sinker on the outside corner above the waist, 1-2
Slider well low/away, 2-2
Slider outside and low, 3-2. From 1-2 to 3-2
He threw 4 pitches to get 2 outs, and has thrown 13 more now.
Sinker outside ball 4.
This has gone from a very short inning, two outs, 0-2 on Alvarez to a long inning.

Terrible sinker just below and inside middle middle, Singleton annihilates it. Hammered off the facing of the 3rd deck in right, 3-0 Astros on the 2 run HR.
I'm beginning to wonder if it is Stroman and not Schmidt who'll leave the rotation if and when Cole gets back.

Blanco will be a stiff test. He's been consistently solid in each start since throwing 15 scoreless innings in his first 2 starts (including a no-hitter on April Fools Day). Since then he's allowed 2, 2, 2, and 3 runs in 6, 6, 5.2, and 6 innings. Law of averages says he's due for a clinker, so maybe we can hand it to him. We handed one to Verlander… |

Slider stays near middle, Volpe lines it over 3rd toward the corner in left, Loperfido cuts it off, holds Volpe to a leadoff single
I would think Blanco will break out his change for Soto. Multiple times.
