1st pitch slurve well off the plate away, Altuve reaches out, hits a flare off the end of the bat, Verdugo has no play, falls for a hit, and gain, Diaz can't take the extra base because of the sound defense.

Bases loaded, 1 out for Tucker Splitter low Misses a FB almost right down the middle, 1-1 sinker outside, 2-1 Sinker outside a bit lower 3-1. Paulie complains about not getting either call, but both missed by 2 inches outside. Sinker down and in fouled off, 3-2 Chases a sinker outside for the whiff. Big out, but out of the frying pan and into the fire with Alvarez up.

Stroman got lucky against Tucker. He threw a sinker that didn't sink. If it did sink, Tucker swung right where it should have been.

Cutter up and in, fouled off. Splitter is low on the outer half, 1-1 on Alvarez Gets away with a cutter down the middle, as Alvarez misses late and under, hits a high fly to Verdugo to end the inning. Good job getting out of that jam, but he can't take too many more innings like that.
21 pitches in the 2nd and 45 through 2 for Stroman.
Stanton, Rizzo and Torres for the Yanks.

OK, could have been much worse Yep, but I'm worried the Yanks won't do anything with Blanco, having squandered a big chance to get him right out of the gate in the 1st. Good evening, pres.

As I read articles pertaining to Red Sox trading Verdugo to Yankees, Red Sox was not expecting Verdugo to provide any degree of competence. They were hoping to get money off their hands and to watch Verdugo disrupt the Yankees' chemistry. From what I can see it's been anything but that. Yankees might not have him for long, but he's been a surprisingly great addition I wasn't expecting. It turns out, Red Sox was the problem. They never maximized Verdugo. They made their most hated rival that much better. yeah he certainly didn't get along w cora and was viewed as disruptive and not being team guy. he's been totally the opposite w the yankees. kind of nick swisher-like. and actually he was a good player on the sox - career BA of .280 and good defense. with us he's shown patience at the plate w the ability to both pull the ball and go oppo. he & of course soto have totally transformed this team. will be listening working on my "farm" as i prep for major planting next week. I have my assorted hot peppers seedlings moved outdoors yesterday to harden off in prep for planting in the coming days. My basil seedlings are not looking robust. I might be heading to the nursery if it doesn't pan out. So far tarragon, chervil and thyme are looking good.

Stanton takes a FB near middle-middle. Takes a slider low/away Checks on a slider low. Gets sawed off on a change inside, and the bat shatters on a foul ball, 2-2

Early enough for Yankees to deliver runs as they trail by 3

Beats him clean with a FB just above the outside corner at 94, swung under for the K, 1 down.
