Change at the very bottom of the zone not called, 1-0. Might've gotten a piece.
Change way low, 2-0.
Slider stays high over the middle, 3-0
1st pitch was maybe a 5% strike on Gameday.
Slider in the zone down and in, good drop, not what Soto wanted, so he takes it for a strike, 3-1
Good change starts well in the zone, dives just out of it low/away and his great eye says don't, and he takes it for ball 4. Didn't miss by much
Not sure Judge can lay off that change.

Judge starts on a change low, 1st base ump says it was a swing and the overhead shot confirms.

Hope so...doing better in this team hot streak. FB overthrown high, 1-2 on Judge Slider low/away taken, 2-2 Back to change down and in, hoping for a K or DP ball. |

Stroman's been...not good. He only allowed 1 run last time out, but against a non-inept offensive team, he could have easily been knocked around then too with the 5 walks. He needs to get it together. Pretty much what I said in the preview about him. It's getting a bit alarming. With that last inning, and his previous 2 starts, he's allowed 11 hits, walked 11, 3 HR, 8 R, 8 ER in 10.1 innings for a 6.97 ERA and dreadful 2.129 WHIP. He's trending badly in the wrong direction. Hope he's not this year's version of 2023 Rodon... |

Made a bad mistake with that change. Stayed inside corner and waist high, and Judge hammered it, but it hooked just foul down the 3rd base line.
Dangit.
Sinker inside ties him up but he spoils.
Slider starts in the zone, but finished outside 2-3 inches and Judge pulls off it for the K.
Coney is correct, great sequence. Judge covered the hanging change and the sinker inside. The slider after is the right cell.

Verdugo gets a high change waist high outside corner but hasn't seen it, thinks it's a FB, is early and on top, grounds it right to Altuve to start an easy 4-6-3 to kill the threat.
Wouldn't surrpise me now to see Blanco lock them down for 5-6 innings, they might have just blown their best chance against him.
That hard smash down the line by Judge that just went foul. Sigh.
Top 2, 3-0 Astros.
Just 16 pitches for Blanco, thanks to the GIDP from Verdugo.

But they need him to be a #4 starter, not much depth right now for them to call on. First pitch sinker has good movement inside, but stays waist high, and Diaz turns on it and pounds it over Verdugo, bounces off the wall for a leadoff double. |

Sinker below the zone, Dubon digs it out, hits a fliner near Judge in right center, he has time to set up perfectly for the throw and Diaz must hold after the catch, 1 down.

Sinker at the knees to Singleton, not called. Terrible sinker just below and inside middle middle, Singleton annihilates it. Hammered off the facing of the 3rd deck in right, 3-0 Astros on the 2 run HR. I'm beginning to wonder if it is Stroman and not Schmidt who'll leave the rotation if and when Cole gets back. Stroman's been...not good. He only allowed 1 run last time out, but against a non-inept offensive team, he could have easily been knocked around then too with the 5 walks. He needs to get it together. A trip to the IL wouldn’t be a shock. He’s been pitching with fear of contact, even in his best PV recent starts… perhaps now we see why… He pitches like an artist at his best. Lately he’s been like a kid with finger paints… |
