3rd star of the game: Verdugo for the big blast settling things down again after the M's threatened to make it a game on Raleigh's HR earlier in the 8th. (You could argue Judge for his 1st inning 2-run shot, giving the Yanks the lead. It's OK with me, I just think that Verdugo's HR was at a more crucial point of the game. 2nd star: Nestor. The M's tried everything to make him work, but he still battled through 5 shutout innings. He's pitching otherworldly at home so far this year, now he must pick things up on the road. 1st star: Soto yet again, with two more HRs, and 3 RBI, going opposite field both times? Death Valley in left center? Soto goes PFFFBBBTTT with the 1st one into or over the visitors' pen.

I feel irrational relief for winning a game in May. Know what you mean, M's had outpitched and outworked the Yanks at the plate in the first two games.

Yanks try to split the series tomorrow afternoon, thankfully back on YES. Early start: 12:37 pm.
Yankee-killer Luis Castillo for the M's, he's 4-5 with a 3.28 ERA. The Yanks counter with their shiny new ace, Luis Gil. M's work ethic at the plate might force too many walks and pitches from Gil, something to watch for. Gil has pitched four great games in row, and is 5-1 with a 2.39 ERA so far in 9 starts.
OK, going to check notifications now.

Yanks' lineup vs Miller: Only five Yankees on the current roster faced Miller before, just three of them with the Yanks:
Judge is 2-3 with 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI vs Miller Verdugo is 1-2 with a 2 run HR and a BB Torres is 2-3 Both Cabrera and Berti are 0-2 vs. Miller
If that seems like not nearly enough damage to account for a 10-4 blowout win, you're right. Five Yankees no longer on the team had two hits that game, and Bauers hit a 2 run double and a solo HR against Miller, and Kiner-Falefa and Calhoun each had a 2 run double as well. Bader had two hits off Miller, too.
Mariners lineup vs. Schmidt:
Crawford is 1-5 with 1 BB and 2 K Rodriguez is 0-3 with 1 K Garver is 1-3 with 1 RBI (a sac fly) and 1 BB Raleigh has never faced Cortes before Moore is 0-4 with a BB and 3 K France is 4-10 with 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K and 1 GIDP Polanco is 2-10 with 2 2B, 1 RBI and 2 K Haniger is 1-4 with 2 RBI (1 was a sac fly), 1 BB and 1 GIDP Urias has never faced Nestor.
On the bench, Zavala is 0-2 with 2 K uh you mean nestor ... Picky, picky, picky...forgot to change that line in the running document...

My webcast abruptly switched from Prime to the M's cast, so I never saw it... I was wondering why you didn't get it. You usually get them. Now you know. Hence the

Because Marinaccio can be optioned without passing him through waivers, and Tonkin can't. Somebody must like Tonkin for reasons that escape me. gonna guess tonkin goes when hamilton comes back. Makes sense, which means they have to pass him through waivers anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rizzo... Slider on the outside corner, 0-1 Backdoor cutter hits the outside corner, 0-2 Curve bounced, 1-2. Verdugo's 6th HR: 106.6 mph, 420 feet, 35º launch angle, a HR in 38 out of 30 parks. Wow 420 feet for Verdugo. Hanging out with Judge and Soto is paying off. Not sure that's why, but still love to see it.

Ok, all notifications checked, and responses made where apropos. So I'm going to get going and watch the Panthers big, fast, mobile, tough defense complete the strangulation of the Rangers' attack for tonight. Probably 2-0 with an empty netter late. Maybe 3-0. Shesterkin makes a fine save on Verhagy's spin-o-rama from the slot.

I feel irrational relief for winning a game in May. I feel the same way. After the way they coughed up the game Monday, then appeared totally listless yesterday, I was worried a serious slump was on the way. Today helped assuage my fears.
