O'Neill, I don't know who you met, but John Wooden was no more than about 5'10". If you were looking up to him - not metaphorically - that was someone else. John Wooden was an absolute saint. Kindest and most unassumingly humble person I have ever met. How did you meet him again? I had lunch with him once in Louisiana and dinner with him in Los Angeles. Both times via former LSU Coach Dale Brown, whom I coached for at his summer camp at LSU. In each instance, I sat directly across the table from him. I was quite nervous sitting so close him - I recall having trouble keeping peas on my fork - and he made me feel like he had known me for years. He actually taught a college course at UCLA every year, wrote poetry and could recite from memory, and never made over 35K a year. His home record at Pauley Pavilion was 150-3. Ten national championships in twelve years.

Nice AB by DJ to get on base. Encouraging signs.

Boras already getting ready for battle with Soto. Yes, as I post it earlier, Boras is always found sitting in the corner of Angels dungout.

Sinker at the very bottom of the zone, outer 3rd, 0-1 on Volpe He doesn't like the call, but it was probably a strike Sinker waist high inside, grounded behind 2nd, Paris fumbles it, recovers, flips late to 2nd, DJ beats the play! 1st and 2nd, 2 down and Soto is set up for a big hit again.,

Volpe up to .288. He looks like a different hitter this year.

Change taken outside, ball 1 on Soto. Good change below the knees near middle, swung over, 1-1 3rd straight change hits the zone low and away, taken 1-2 FB up in the zone, inner half, Soto jammed a bit, but his bloop fals in front of Ward for a hit, DJ scores without a play, Volpe stops at 2nd with the throw to 3rd right in front of him, game tied at 2!!! After all the hard hit balls came to nothing, that flare ties the game. "You can't predict baseball, Suzyn."

Judge fouls off a FB in the zone low/away, 0-1 A sinker on the corner inside thigh high ties him up a bit, his grounder goes to Regnifo, throws him out, inning over.
Bottom 4, Yanks, like the Rangers, now tied at 2.
Yanks made Canning work that inning, 26 pitches and 66 through 4. Ward, Pillar and O'Hoppe for the Angels.
Rangers still 2=2 with 8:44 left in the 3rd.

Volpe up to .288. He looks like a different hitter this year. He is a different hitter, changed his swing significantly, and still might hit 20 HRs. Slider into the top of the zone 0-1 on Ward FB outside 1-0 FB above and outside middle, fouled 1-2 Change low, 2-2 Cutter down and in spoiled.

Slider drops low, and Ward barely gets the end of the bat on it, fouls it. Mistake pitch, FB below middle, belted to deep left, but Verdugo reads it right, takes the right route and makes it look easy on the track, 1 down.
