Pillar takes a FB outside, then gets a cutter outside middle, and lines it to left for a hit.

Maybe Cortes would have better luck against Pillar if he'd stop giving him bad mistakes. Cutter near middle, O'Hoppe misses it, 0-1 FB inner 3rd waist high, another mistake, driven to deep left center, Judge lopes back to the track and hauls it in, 2 down.

I had lunch with him once in Louisiana and dinner with him in Los Angeles. Both times via former LSU Coach Dale Brown, whom I coached for at his summer camp at LSU. In each instance, I sat directly across the table from him. I was quite nervous sitting so close him - I recall having trouble keeping peas on my fork - and he made me feel like he had known me for years. He actually taught a college course at UCLA every year, wrote poetry and could recite from memory, and never made over 35K a year. His home record at Pauley Pavilion was 150-3. Ten national championships in twelve years. I've read a couple bios on him and his book on leadership. They broke the mold on him. Never used profanity. Never scouted other teams or used video tape, when every other coach was doing so. Coach Wooden's philosophy was that if the other team executed better than UCLA did, then they deserved to win the game. He had a right way to do everything. Each season, he started the first practice by teaching his players how to put on their socks and sneakers to avoid blisters. More than anything, he was proudest of the men and fathers and grandfathers his players became rather than any prior accomplishments on the court. Wooden believed through basketball, he could teach his players life lessons to pass on.

Adell.. FB near middle, swung on and missed Cutter high, 1-1 Cutter outside near the top, fouled, 1-2 Cutter inside middle another mistake, but Adell fouls it off. FB low, 2-2. Cortes or Wells wanted that pitch, but it wasn't close. Cutter in the same mistake spot just above and inside middle, sky high pop to short left, Volpe calls everyone off, can't find it in the twilight, then lunges late to his right, and barely holds on with a snow-cone catch as he stumbles to a knee, inning over.
Top 5, 2-1 17 pitches in the 4th for Cortes, 63 through 4.
Verdugo, Stanton and Rizzo for the Yanks in the 5th
Rangers haven't even had a shot attempt since Lafreniere tied it, still 2-2 with 3:20 left Rempe of all people gets a good shot on Bobrovsky but it was down low and Bobrovsky is very good with those.

The Yankees have three players in the top 10 of MLB in WAR: Judge at number 5 (3.2), Soto at number 7 (2.8), and Volpe tied at number 9 (2.5).

Verdugo... Change outside, 1-0 Change well low, 2-0 Change in the zone thigh high, middle of the plate, fouled, 2-1 Change 3 inches outside at the top, Verdugo tries to check, can't 2-2 Four changes in a row so far And slows down his bat, so he can't catch up with the FB at the same spot as the last change, missses late for the K, 1 down.

And again, he's setting up the chase pitch.
Slider bounced way outside, chased for strike 3, goes back to the screen, and it's so far from home that even Stanton can reach on the K-WP. Man on 1st, 1 down for Rizzo.
