Once again, did not follow entire game thread so apologize if I'm beating any horses here. Obviously a tough loss but for some reason after leaving so many runners on base early, I had a bad feeling about this game. I've stated before I have concerns with the BP despite the great start. I think they have been doing it with smoke and mirrors. One also has to start wondering about Rizzo, is he going through a slump, not 100% healthy or is age catching up to him. ABs have not looked good for awhile and defense is not up to par. Don't want to over react to a bad loss but I guess thats what fans do. On the bright side, I though DJ's abs looked competitive.

I joked about it being Ben Rice season even before Rizzo's misplay but of course I doubt Rizzo has anything less than the longest of leashes. His OPS is sitting at .680 so not great. Hopefully the concussion isn't still effecting him at the plate and/or in the field. And hopefully age hasn't begun to take its toll. Though its a small sample size this season he's been awful against lefties where as usually he is pretty good against them.

This year will be “the end” Rizzo as a Yankee. I do think age is taking a toll on him. Sad, because I wanted him on this team a good five years before we got him. I think there’s still something in the tank, and he’ll heat up again, but there’s not going to be much next year. Historically, many players have dropped off at the point in their career where the Rizz izz. The last time he’s hit over .250 was way back in 2019 with the Cubs. The days of being an elite fielder are also done. He can still pick it, but the supernatural plays like the one he attempted yesterday are few and far between… I think when his back is bothering him, he just tries to shoot the ball softly to left field, like we’re seeing right now. When he’s well, he turns on it, like about a month ago…

Additionally if Torres is headed elsewhere, his position needs attention going forward. Yankees have many positions to address come 2025.

I think next year 1B will be a platoon of DJL and a LH hitter...possibly Rice/Jones (?). There are several MIFs in the system, including Durbin & Cowles.

Wells jumps on a 1st pitch hanging slider just below middle, hits a deep fly to the wall in right, but Adell calmly reaches up and catches, wouldn't have been a HR, 1 down. I thought for a second that ball that was hit to Adell was going to say hello from the other side of the fence.

Any one miss Domingo German? He’s in Pittsburgh’s MiLB at 0-1; 5.65, on three appearances. No perfect games yet… With an ERA like that, it looks like the bats aren't missing his pitches.

He’ll be less sought out by others and his price will go down. He might have to fight for his position with us though…<Durbin, are ye’ listening lad?)…

I agree with this completely, though I believe Torres will be back… There may be a silver lining to Gleyber's less than stellar start. I think a shorter/less expensive contract than most anticipated will work, and I believe him when he says he really wants to stay a Yankee. If that's the case, as I've said many times, I'd like to see him moved to 3B (there will be a vacancy there) and one of the "kids" come up to handle 2B. I believe his offense will be greatly improved without the pressure of playing 2B. Not meant as a slight to 3B, but there is a lot less to think about there, and he can focus more on his hitting.

Since Hal has publicly stated the Yankees will be attempting to lower costs, some combination/option of Peraza, Durbin, or Waldo may be their projection, as I expect DJ will man first base next season. Why do doctor’s appointments even have times? And, then they always ask you to arrive 15 minutes before the appointment. PITA

So you can wait even longer than usual... Then, it’s been a success. I always get a jolt of adrenaline when the nurse comes out and calls my name. Kinda like "The Price Is Right"...come on down!!! I feel so privileged...and kinda smirk at the teeming mass left sitting, wondering...when will it happen for them. No one knows...and I don't care.
