Slider maybe got a tiny piece of the high inside corner to Buxton, 0-1 Sinker inside, 1-1 Chases a slider well low and away, 1-2 Buxton runs up the white flag, chases a slider that bounced on the outside corner for the K. Yanks win AGAIN, 9-5.

He's actually better than Santana right now, so he gets to "close".

Tonkin is amazing, isn’t he?… He's getting outs and actually getting better the more he pitches.

Train keeps chugging along, despite Santana's best (worst) efforts. On to the next one.

44-19. Some really nice season records in reach:
56-43 = 100-62 61-38 = 105-57 66-33 = 110-52
I don't know if they can maintain this torrid pace, but if they continue to stay healthy, a really nice season is on its way...and we haven't even added Cole back yet.

3rd star of the game: Volpe for 3 hits, 2 runs and an outstanding play against Santana in the 3rd, keeping the fledgling perfect game intact, for a while. 2nd star: Judge for the 3 run triple off Castillo in the 5th that basically ended things for today. 1st star: Rodon, who was perfect for 5 1/3, and battled through the 6th to get his 6th straight good quality start and 6th straight win. He's now 8-2 on the season with an ERA of 3.08
Hat tips abound: great defensive plays by Soto, Torres (and big 2-run ground-rule double in the first that he had no idea where it went and didn't break out of the box at all) and especially Verdugo. Soto with a single in the first setting up the open rally when he got jammed, and two walks and two more runs scored. Stanton, for knocking in a run, scoring a run, and nearly turning a double into a double.
Special kudos to Dennis Santana for giving us all something to beach about in this otherwise perfect night.

Don't look now, but 44-19 is a pace of 113-49, just 1 game off the total of the (SHHHHH!!!) 1998 Yanks. But they were 47-16 after 63 games. That's how great they were at this point, 3 games better than a .700 (ok, ok, .698) team.

The series finale is again at 7:08 pm, thankfully back on YES. The Twins will send their notional ace, Pablo Lopez out to try to avoid the sweep. He's 5-5 with a 4.84 ERA. He pitched a great game against Houston in his most recent outing after getting pounded in back to back starts by the Nationals and Rangers. Marcus Stroman will try to gain the Yanks 2nd straight series sweep. Stroman is looking for his 5th straight great start, and is currently 5-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.73, currently 7th in the AL among qualified starters.
And with tomorrow's game preview done, I go to check notifications.
