Change dives down and in, taken by Pages, ball 1 Same change, same spot, same take, same result, 2-0 Change waist high, dives even further inside, he chases a pitch that almost hit him and fouls it. 2-1 Bad slider down the middle, roped into the corner in left, Verdugo gets it but has no chance to nail him at 2nd, 1 out double Please stop leaving sliders down the middle, Luis.

Lux... Change at the knees, 94, in the imddle, taken, 0-1 Chagne a bit lower in the same area, 1-1 FB just misses up and away, 2-1 FB well high, outer 3rd, 3-1 Challenge this guy, Luis. If he hits the Porch, he hits it.

Well, OK, not a challenge, but the change was a strike and he swung over it, 3-2 Fb outside middle, slapped the other way for a single to left, Pages rounds third hard, but gets held up as Verdugo gets it in to the cutoff man quickly. 1st and 3r, 1 down for Kike Hernandez.
Blake goes out to talk to Gil 18 pitches already this inning after the long at bat to K Heyward.

He's fallen behind all 3 batters this inning.

It's too bad they didn't send Pages. If he wasn't thrown out at the plate, he clearly missed 3rd.

Gil needs break to catch his breath and slow down. Smooth and easy.

FB runs up and in, spins Kike out of there, 1-0 FB above middle, fouled almost straight back. 97 on that one, 1-1 Bounches the change, 2-1, good block by Trevino. Change in a bad spot inside middle, but he's early, tops it foul off 3rd, 2-2 FB just outside at the knees, chased and missed, as Lux steals 2nd. Trevino bluffs, holds the ball 2nd and 3rd, two down for Mookie. Eye of the needle for Gil here.

Doesn't get the call on the first pitch FB above the inside corner this time, an inch or two higher than the other two. Challenges with another FB up and in, Betts likes it there, hammers it into the corner in left for a two run double, game tied at 2.

You have to get guys like Lux out so you don't face Betts in this situation.

why did Trevino not throw to 2nd? It was a set play, he told the infielderes he wasn't going to throw and risk a double steal. Ohtani takes a change for a strike low in the zone. Gets a 2nd change up and away, lofts a fly to fairly deep left, Verdugo there, inning over. Bottom 5, tied at 2. 27 pitches for Gil in the 5th, 82 through 5. Cabrera, Trevino and Volpe for the Yanks in their 5th.

Betts makes this lineup unique in that he can do almost anything on the field, and he doesn't strike out a lot. Smart player.
