Rice gets a major league curve on the first pitch, swings over it as it drops knee high.
Change down and in, swung under, 0-2
Change misses low...maybe...in the middle, 1-2. Gameday says <5%.
Curve down and in, 2-2
96 FB above the waist, outer half, Rice misses late and under, flies to Hays in medium left, 1 down.

Torres fouls off a cutter that wound up below middle, 0-1
Takes a cutter way outside, 1-1
Takes a cutter into the zone at the top in the middle, 1-2
FB about 6 inches above the corner away, taken, 2-2
Same FB maybe an inch or two lower, taken, 3-2
FB misses 2-3 inches low on the outside corner, McCann tried to pull it up, but no sale, ball 4.

Wells takes a cutter outside middle, waist high, 0-1
Cutter in almost the same spot, lined past 1st into the right field corner, Santander corrals it, and they hold Torres at 3rd with 1 down.
Double for Wells puts runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 down for LeMahieu.

Chases a cutter 3-4 inches outside, pulls off it, bounces it foul off 3rd. 0-1
Sharp dropping cutter gets a swing over, below the waist, outer 3rd, 0-2
Late on delivery, FB flies way high, 1-2
Suarez gets set, then steps off the rubber.
Fb well high, but not nearly as high, Volpe checks in time, 2-2. Very close on the check swing, could've been called.
Cutter inside middle, and Volpe wakes up out of his deep sleep, lines it over short into left center for a hit, Wells scores, and DJ stops at 2nd.
Yanks take a 1-0 lead!!!
