Judge takes a change low, 1-0 Swings over a change that maybe got a tiny piece of the corner low away. FB thigh high, inner 3rd, a hard smash to Riley's left, he dives but can't get it, a single moves Soto to 2nd with 1 out. Need Verdugo to get a hit here, 3rd time looking at Fried.

Really needed a second run there.

Verdugo takes a slider outside, above the waist. Slider misses way low/away 2-0. Chases a waist high sinker inside, fouls it. That was ball 3, Alex. Looks a curve way up and in, Verdugo spins out of the way, 3-1 FB in the zone up and away, grounded sharply, but right up the middle to the left of 2nd, where Arcia is playing and he turns it into a rally-killing 6-6-3 DP. Sigh. Top 7, 3-1 Braves. 7-8-9 for the Braves: Duvall, Laureano and Arcia.

IMO that's a situation where a headfirst dive would've worked.

Not hit as hard as I thought, just 81 on Verdugo's DP grounder.

Too bad we didn’t seal the deal that time. Fried wasn’t looking sharp that inning… The out at third took some wind out of our sails…

Rays-Pirates are 1-1 in the 7th. Sox led the Reds 4-1 in the 5th Jays lead the Guardians 3-2 in the 3rd, game being delayed by rain. Astros lead the O's 4-0 top 4.

Duvall takes a cutter into the top of the zone, 0-1 Cutter inside ties him up, pops to Volpe, 1 down.

Laughably inept analysis there by Girardi on Volpe getting thrown out at third.

The Yankees had a good case for obstruction on that play at third base. The third-baseman had his foot planted in front of the bag without the ball and that movement was not necessary to make the catch. Volpe's slide was obstructed by the third baseman. Unfortunately, obstruction is not reviewable.

Laureano... Slider into the top, taken, 0-1 Misses a FB on the corner away, 0-2 Change misses below the outside corner, 1-2 FB outside corner, fouled off Cutter into the top in the middle, hits a sinker liner to center, but Grisham coasts in, makes it look easy, 2 down.

Verdugo's numbers with the Yankees are now far below his career averages.
