Arcia takes a FB outside, 1-0 Cutter outside middle taken, 1-1 Change to the middle at the knees, taken, 1-2 FB well high, taken, 2-2 FB on the outer half, up in the zone, foul tipped into the mitt, K, inning over.
Bottom 7, 3-1 Braves. 12 pitch 1-2-3 for Nestor, and 102 total In this heat, in this park, against this team? That's an excellent game by Nestor.
Torres, LeMahieu and Rice in the 7th. Despite not having Minter and Matzek, the Braves' pen is still very good. Let's see who comes in for them in the 7th.

Meanwhile Nestor has pitched a good game. Would be nice to get 3 runs this inning.

Verdugo's numbers with the Yankees are now far below his career averages. He's been cold for a while now. Hopefully, he can turn it around.

Laughably inept analysis there by Girardi on Volpe getting thrown out at third. I missed it. What’d he say?…

Have to credit Arcia for a good play to get Volpe at third. I think the Yankees should have challenged that the third baseman was in the baseline, as Volpe's back foot contacted the fielder on the slide before the tag was made.

Laughably inept analysis there by Girardi on Volpe getting thrown out at third. I missed it. What’d he say?… Girardi said that Volpe made the right decision, as when the ball is hit behind the baserunner at second, you move to third, which is the rule of thumb. If the ball is in front of the runner at second, you see it through the hole before committing.

I think the Yankees should have challenged that the third baseman was in the baseline, as Volpe's back foot contacted the fielder on the slide before the tag was made. It's whether he blocks the base without the ball, not if he blocks it before the tag. I think he's out no matter what. Pierce Johnson in for the Braves. Torres takes a curve outside, then misses a curve inside middle, pops it near home, caught by Murphy in foul territory, 1 down.

LeMahieu takes a curve to the low outside corner, Yanks get another break, 70-80% strike not called, 1-0 Curve to the knees outer half is ANOTHER BREAK, 30% strike not called, 2-0 Fb outerd 3rd, fouled off, 2-1 Curve thigh high in the middle, rolled over to 3rd, Riley fields and throws him out, 2 down DJ spotted to a 2-0 count, does nothing.

Rice takes a curve in the zone low/away, 0-1 Gets a hanging curve in the middle, pulls it through the 34 hole for another hit.
