I just wanted to relax and enjoy a little Yankee baseball. Some other game...week...month season, JEG. Alvarez gets a 1-2 FB on the corner away, hits a sinking liner to center, Judge runs in and makes a diving backhand catch to his right, inning over. I know he goes all out, but that was risky, again. Inning finally over. 9-1 game in the 6th, and he's diving for balls. Very worrying. It's gonna catch up with him on one of these plays. Top 7, 9-1 Mets. Some other pitcher for the Mets, probably, will face the top of the order, Volpe, Soto and Judge. |

Nope, Nunez stays in.
Volpe takes a slider near middle, 0-1
FB at the top fouled, 0-2
Slider outside, Volpe pulls out early, hits it off the end of the bat way off 1st, Volpe hustles hard, and Nunez loses the throw looking for the bad. Infield hit? Nope, error on Nunez, if he catches it, Volpe's out.

FB up and away, ball 1 on Soto
FB above and outside middle, lined hard to right center, but Bader gets the read and route, cataches on the move, then slides down after for no good reason, 1 down. Coney calls it "eyewash" and I agree, he almost certainly didn't have to slide.

FB to the knees in the middle is fouled.
FB waist high inside corner, a bazooks blast over 3rd and into the corner, Volpe running all the way, almost runs into a stumble, but scores with a face first slider, 9-2 Mets. yay.

this O's/Clev game is crazy Maybe they're the best two teams in the league, pres. Maybe more than "maybe". Really ? Bal has lost 4-5 in a row and is behind he Yankees Yankees took 2-3 from Cleveland in Cleveland and until recently and before all of the injuries had the best record in the MLB But injuries dont matter ... right? |

Chases a slider bounced over home, and he's lost in space and time right now, K.
Yanks add not terribly meaningful run, and trail 9-2 going bottom 7.
Yankee win probability was 0.3% before that inning. The RBI double raised it to 0.8%, but the two outs that followed lowered it back down to 0.3%.
Taylor, Vientos and McNeil for the Mets.

Well, I had a two hour conversation with my oldest brother, catching up on what is happening in south Louisiana and with family. Boy, am I glad I did. This must be the nadir or certainly close to it. At least, Volpe and Soto and Judge continue to make things happen. Verdugo needs a day off. Even Grisham has hit the ball more lately than Dugo. Where is my boy Converted Rice? He puts the ball in play. DH the new guy.
