100% effort on a ball in the gap that tipped off his glove. What were you expecting?… A rhetorical question?

Maybe a blown hit and run?… Possibly. But, either way, Wells should have not taken that hittable pitch for strike three. Ugh!

Curve misses inside to DJ 1-0 FB runs to the inner 3rd above waist, taken, 1-1 Change dives down and in, just misses, 2-1 Sinker above middle, DJ tops it to the right of 2nd, Falefa scoots and backhands, throws him out, inning over. Bottom 6, 3-1 Jays. 13 pitches for Basitt in the 6th. 94 total. I don't think they'll let him try the 7th, but with Cabrera and Grisham to start it, they might let him go batter-by-batter. Springer, Kirk and Clement for the Jays in their 6th inning.

Should have saved about 8 runs from yesterday for today. At least Bassitt may be done for the day. If not we try to get him in trouble before we get to feast on their bullpen…

Cousins is another pitcher with a good career hits to innings pitched ratio and a good career Strikeout to innings pitched ratio. He's had trouble with walks and injuries, Max. But maybe Blake can fix him. It's worked before.

Bickford in to pitch the 6th for the Yanks. Fb outside middle, but Springer misses, fouls it off. 0-1 FB misses high above middle, 1-1 Bounces a slider over home, 2-1 Terrible 2-1 pitch, FB almost right down the middle, smashed up the gap in left center, goes to the wall for a leadoff double, and the Yanks are right back in the soup this inning.

I had to check. The Yankees have used 28 pitchers so far in just over half a season. By way of comparison to two well-known squads, the 2009 Yankees used 24 pitchers for the whole year. The 1998 Yankees used 19. Of course if you go back further the numbers get much lower.

Cousins threw 7 pitches. Why take him out?

Slider in the dirt may get it done.

Varsho PH for Schneider...takes a FB almost right...down...the middle, 0-1 Fb tails just outside, marginal, 0% on Gameday, called a strike anyway, Bickford got a break there, I think, 9-2 Fb misses up and away, 1-2 FB misses 4-5 inches above the inside corner, 2-2 FB waist high, just outside, lined to left, Verdugo tries to come in and slide to catch it, but falls short, he's able to block and keep it in front, holding Springer at 3rd for the moment and Varsho held to single.

Cousins threw 7 pitches. Why take him out? Boone likes to make pitching changes. It's one of his only jobs.

Yanks following up a nice win with a very lackluster effort.
