Kirk... FB misses low/away 1-0 FB waist high, outer 3rd, grounded hard to the 56 hole with the infield halfway, Volpe has no shot to even block it, RBI single for Kirk, 1st and 2nd, nobody out, Jays up 4-1, and Bickford throwing batting practice right now.

Can we toss this Bickford back on the scrap heap? He's terrible.

Clement shows bunt, takes a slider way outside, 1-0 Bickford comes set, then steps off. FB outside corner, Clement's bunt attempt misses under, pops it foul behind home, no play FB down the middle again, misses just under, very high fly to medium center, giving Grisham a chance to set up for the throw, and he holds Varsho at 2nd. Bickford not really fooling anyone. Clement just missed smashing that one.

Cousins threw 7 pitches. Why take him out? That does seem odd. With Nestor not making it out of the 5th, Boone knew he had to get a lot of bullpen outs, why not stay with a guy that was working?

IKF was the designated whipping boy for some... Yes, I know, but I liked him. Never complained, always hustled, loved being a Yankee. He is just better suited to third rather than shortstop, just like Torres was better suited to second base. Another Yankee braintrust idea of using lots of players out of their best positions.

FB up and away to Kiermaier gets a piece of the high outside corner at 93, 10-20% on Gameday, not called, 1-0 FB misses outside at the top, 2-0 Flies open, and overthrow a FB well high, 3-0. We might be looking at Bickford's last appearance for the Yanks. FB at the top, outer 3rd, taken, 3-1 Bad FB in the middle, thigh high, popped foul way back of 3rd, DJ has no shot, neither does Volpe, but Verdugo materializes out of camera shot to race in and make the play. Yanks lucky he was probably shading Keirmaier a bit toward the LF line, 2 down.

Blake goes out to talk to Bickford, he has to face Bichette here.

As I said on the YES message board... In my opinion, IKF and Higgy are ultimate team players.

Springer .213 Batting Avg. Varsho .203 Batting Avg. Kirk .208 Batting Avg. Not their career lines, Max, regression to the mean underway for all three. They've all killed the Yanks multiple times in years past. Bichette... Slider way outside AND low Slider way outside and NOT low, 2-0 FB maybe got a tiny piece of the high outside corner, not called, 1-2% on Gameday, so...very marginal. FB just above middle middle taken, 3-1 FB misses low near the corner away, ball 4. Bases loaded, two down for Falefa, who's killed the Yanks all series so far. Bickford at 24 pitches already.

Falefa... Misses a FB in the zone low/away, 0-1 Takes a FB in almost the same spot, 0-2 Terrible 0-2 pitch, FB just inside middle middle, grounded hard to the 56 hole, beats dives by both DJ to his left and Volpe to his right, gets into left for a RBI single. Varsho scores, they hold Kirk at 3rd, 5-1 Jays, still bases loaded, 2 down and this one is probably over now. Yanks bring Ferguson into the game to face Guerrero. Amazing they don't have a better option in this spot, but there it is.

IKF does what we had gotten him to do...putting the ball in play. He was likely the first transaction that signaled the Yankees might actually get off the false bandwagon of three true outcomes.
