Judge takes a FB waist high outside, 1-0 FB on the inside corner ties him up enough that his attempt to go oppo to the bullpen dies in medium deep right center, another easy play for Duran, who's shading that way, inning over.
Top 8, 3-1 Yanks. Weaver will try for a 2nd 0 against Valdez, Rafaela and Duran.

1st pitch FB misses up and away, 1-0 on Valdez. Cutter misses 3 inches above the inside corner, 2-0 Fb misses low, inner half Come on, Weaver, no free passes with a 2 run lead.

FB in the drop the bat happy zone down and in at 95, takes it, 3-1 Change dives well outside, but gets a huge break. misses outside 3-4 inches, Valdez start for first and is mad at the call, rightly so. 0% and not close, 3-2. Aarrrrrgggggg
Same pitch he's force to chase, taps it to the left of the mound, Weaver reels around and gets hit mitt on it, it dies behind the moound for a n infield hit, and it was an almost certain groundout to Volpe if he didn't touch it. Dang.

Rafela takes a FB near middle, 0-1 Change in the zone low and away, tapped in front of home, Wells pounces on it and makes the risky play to 2nd for the force, it's an out if Cabrera holds it, it's a force, and he stretches but doesn't look it into the mitt, and the Yanks are in big trouble in an inning that should be 2 outs and nobody on. Geez.

Druan up. Hamilton pinch runs at 2nd, and a double steal is imminent. The reason why you go to 1st in that spot, and not 2nd like Girardi said, is that the runner in scoring position is NOT more important than keeping the tying run off base and the go-ahead run off the plate.

FB up and in, Duran takes it for a strike. FB up and in, fouled, 0-2 FB up and in, he opens up early, and fouls it almost straight back Any pitch away plays to Duran's strength, but he's adjusting and opening up. Great change dives just outside, and Duran swings early and over, K, 1 down. And if you get the out at 1st on Rafaela's squib, you're one out away from getting out of this inning.

Now the tying run is in scoring position for no reason. Stupid baseball.

Abreu PH for Refsnyder. And THAT IS ANOTHER REASON WHY YOU DON'T THROW TO 2ND ON THE SQUIB. Pickoff attempt at 2nd, the Sox weren't running, and he throws it into center, the runners move up on the E-1, and the tying run is in scoring postion.
