People will freak out at Cashman saying there’s “no lane” to bring him in when Verdugo has been terrible overall (admittedly on a good streak these past couple of weeks, but overall he’s been terrible) but truthfully I bet if you gave him truth serum he’d say it’s because Dominguez has been hitting under .150 in the minors since coming back from the oblique. My guess is that if Dominguez starts mashing the ball these next few weeks and Verdugo sucks, that lane would open up. But Cashman is probably avoiding putting pressure on the kid.

But Cashman is probably avoiding putting pressure on the kid. at least for the moment there's no lane. they're not bumping either verdugo or grisham for the martian. dugo is actually hitting .305 w a .360 OPS over his last 14 games and grisham offers great defense in addition to getting the occasional clutch hit. and dominguez has been struggling since his return. perhaps when the roster expands in september. |

The Yankees could bring up Dominguez and return Ben Rice to AAA. That leaves 1st base to DJ and OC and an unhappy Verdgugo on the bench. I would not do that either.

I would not do that either. and dominguez, in addition to being young, has missed a lot of time the last 2 seasons and they'd rather see him get regular playing time to advance his development, something he's not gonna get on the big club. with verdugo most likely gone next season, the martian would have the inside track on LF or CF. |

The Yankees are also going to need room on their 26 man roster for when Rizzo and Berti come off the IR. Maybe that's when he Yankees send Rice and OC to Triple A?
