The backdoor slider backs up outside near the bottom. Grisham checks in time.
And I was wrong, he left a FB down the middle, and Grisham blasted it toward 1st. Alonso makes a great desperate dive to his right, gloves, gets up, flips to Nunez...who drops the throw. E-1 gets the leadoff man on with nobody out.

Grisham PH for Jones. That might be an improvement. By a little. Grisham has never faced Nunez. Grisham has been a sub-Mendoza hitter for three years and is an "improvement" on our leadoff hitter. Egads. |

Starts on a slider well down and in, Soto checks, and it's marginal, but called a swing, 0-2
Takes a slide dropping just low in the middle, 1-2
Soto is 0-1 vs. Nunez.

55 foot slider bounced inside of Torrens backhand attempt, goes back to the screen for a wild pitch, moving Grisham to 2nd with nobody out.
Fooled with a slider dropping down, very early, swing over for the K, and he drops the bat again, hurt the wrist twice that at bat. K, 1 down.
