Cashman did strike gold with this trade. It's time to put Jazz at leadoff, in front of Soto and Judge.

Guess he was holding back… 😂

Cashman did strike gold with this trade. It's time to put Jazz at leadoff, in front of Soto and Judge. Weird ... aside from the crazy start, it doesnt seem like Jazz has been that good to me He had the back to back 2 HR games in his 2nd and 3rd games here which is inflating that to some degree. But even since then, he's slashing .321//361/.564 over his last 19 games which is phenomenal. In the 6 games immediately following those back to back 2 HR games he slashed .174/.240/348 which is obviously awful. In just the 4 games following the back to back home 2 HR games it was even worse (in games 5 and 6 after he went 1-4 each day and had a HR which raise the total a bit). Then he was back on fire for 5 games before getting hurt. In his first 5 games back from the DL he slashed .211/.211/.474 before catching fire these last 5 games. So overall, it's kind of been a stretch of ~5 great games, ~5 bad games. So it feels a bit streaky. Then again, anyone is probably streaky if you break it down that small. That's almost game to game.

Cashman did strike gold with this trade. It's time to put Jazz at leadoff, in front of Soto and Judge. As Chisholm is doing very well right where he is (5th-6th-7th) I would leave him there for now, mainly because Torres is getting the job done at leadoff. Since being put back in that roll after flopping at it early in he season, over 16 games, Torres is 19-64 with 2 doubles, 3 HR, 12 runs, 9 RBI, 10 BB and 13 K, He hasn't stolen any bases, but I don't want him to in front of Soto and Judge, just let them hit. If you move Chisholm up there, they'll keep him from running at will in front of the two big guys, and as Chisholm is a "feel" player, I don't want his base-stealing instincts messed with until he shows he doesn't know when to run by getting thrown out in a key spot or two. His power and speed are a threat down in the order, away from the Soto/Judge power axis in the top 3 and the Yanks need threats lower in the order to balance the lineup better. Torres' quadruple slash line over the last 16 games: 297/.387/.438/.835, is very good for a leadoff man, especially the OBA. He's finally "out" of his head at the plate for the first time this season, and he's having a good number of long at bats working pitchers as a bonus. He's finally hitting the way he should be, and I don't think the Yanks should mess with his head, until, as usual, they start that crap when his new contract discussions begin. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and right now both Chisholm and Torres ain't broke.

Cashman's last 2 big moves were trading for Soto and Jazz. Everyone predicted it and know it was going to happen so it's not like he made some blockbuster smart deal.
Trashman needs to go to rebuild this franchise correctly.

Career .246/.309/.440/.749, strikes out a lot, has some pop. Okay? I mean, I guess he's an upgrade on Grisham, but where does he play when Stanton is back and Judge goes back to Center? This doesn't look they kind of acquisition that provides much of a bump to a team struggling as badly as the Yanks. So far I was dead wrong and pretty happy about it.

For Torres it's a little too little a little too late ... 16 game hot streak but power is gone, he's still having the worst year of his career, and I hate to be critical... but he looks fat 1 year $10m prove it deal with a team option for $12m in the 2nd year That's the best I would offer at this point
