The Yankees just selected SS Anthony Volpe, a H.S. kid from New Jersey, with their 1st round pick.
He's committed to Vanderbilt.

Sounds like another HS SS the Yankees once took in the first round: I read that taking Volpe was another Cito Culver like selection. He was ranked like 60th on people's draft boards. No need to reach for him in the first round. |

No need to reach for him in the first round. Feels like yet another DO being too cute and thinking he's smarter than everyone else. For all the things the Yankees organization does extremely well, this isn't one of them. If this kid makes it I will be pleasantly surprised. |
