Forgot to add that if any of my generation who were around think I've left something important out about Kirk or Bob Gibson, feel free to add/correct me on it.

"Zaftig" 9.68 ERA is a most unsusual adjective, baseball-wise, Mikey.

Wynn takes a sinker outside middle, 0-1; Gaemd underway. Sinker inside corner, right to Volpe, he throws high, Cabrera leaps to get it, comes back down in time, 1 down.

Sinker tails out to Burleson, ball 1 Slider hangs outside, 2-0 Slider hits the backdoor, 2-1 Change tails well outside, 3-1 So Boone compares Warren to Schmidt? I wonder who else around here said the same thing? Now I wonder if it's a good thing that Boone and I think alike... Misses low with a slider, ball 4.

Winker on the outer 3rd, 0-1 Sinker into the top of the zone 0-2 Slider too far outside for a chase, 1-2 Sinker well inside, 2-2 FB 6 inches outside, 3-2. Same old, same old, so far. From 0-2 to 3-2. Runner goes, sinker down and in, rolled over the 3rd, Chisholm backs off, fields and throws out Arenado, 2 down, Burleson to 2nd.

Donovan takes a sinker in the zone up and away, 0-1 Takes a slider outside, 1-1 FB up and in jams him enough so that his grounder goes right to Torres, throws him out, inning over.
Bottom 1, 0-0. Solid 1st inning for Warren, a BB and 3 grounders and 17 pitches.

Torres steps in to lead off for the Yanks. Torres barely misses under a first pitch FB almost down the middle, hits a high fly to deep center, but Scott goes back to the track, camps for it, catches, 1 down.

Soto squares to bunt, takes a bounced fastball, 1-0 Shows bunt, tries to jab bunt a high sinker, fouls it off, 1-1. Bad technique, never bunt a high pitch and don't jab with the bat. Cutter inside taken, 2-1 Swings over a sinker below middle, hits Herrera on the follow through. FB inside. It doesn't work this way, but I subjectively feel that Soto should Gibson every time up. And it doesn't work that time, takes a change that drops just below and outside middle for a ꓘ. Bad Sign: Soto GAVE Gibson two strikes that at bat.

Judge takes a sinker low, ball 1. Sinker at the bottom of the zone, grounded to short, easy play for Wynn, inning over. If both Judge and Soto slump at the same time, this team has no offense to speak of. Well, very little, anyway.

1-2-3 for Gibson in the 1st, just 9 pitches. Gibson is the type of pitcher this team MUST hit. I know he's a veteran and he's had some gone seasons, and pitched a couple of good games against them, but he's been mostly mediocre his entire career and he is right-handed. They have to hit this guy today. There's no excuse.

Goldschmidt takes a sinker outside, 1-0 Takes a Fb in the zone up and away, 1-1 Slider misses just outside at the knees, taken, 2-1 Sharp breaking slider, stumbles on landing, breaks well outside, 3-1Sinker dives down and in, popped foul out of play over the Yankee dugout, 2-2 Fb at the very edge of the outside corner, near the top, swung on and missed. FB was 95, got a K. 1 down.

Herrera... Takes a sinker outside, 1-0 Takes another sinker that backs over the outside corner, 1-1 Takes a sinker that misses down and in, 2-1 FB misses high on the inside corner, 3-1 Maybe it's just that Warren doesn't throow enough strikes. They use the Gil plan: take take take, and let Warren get himself into trouble. His stuff is good, but not as good as Gil's so he can't get away with it. Sinker well inside, ball 4. 2nd walk for Warren already.
