1st pitch sinker in the zone down and in, lined to the corner in right, one hops to the wall, Wells running all the way, goes for two, takes a weird slide but hangs on to the base with his hands, a leaoff double.

Grisham is playing because they want to give Judge a day off from center, and because his record against Gibson is much better than Stanton's.
Takes a sinker just above the outside corner, 0-1
Change dives well outside, 1-1
Change misses just low/away, 2-1
Cutter waist high, outer 3rd, he swings under it, 2-2.
I approve the change in scoring taking away last night's steal for Volpe, he stopped and didn't go unitl Pages lost the pitch.

Another thing I remember about Bob Gibson was that long time Yankee broadcaster Bill White was one of his close friends from their days together as a Cardinal, and he told great stories about Gibson.

Tries to backdoor a slider, misses outside by 2-3 inches, Wells tries to fake to 3rd to get a call, no sale.
Sinker outside is ball 4. Terrible pitching there, real mental error
Scott has blazing speed and a huge basestealer. You CANNOT simply miss the zone with 4 pitche after getting to 0-2 on him. You MUST challenge him at SOME point in the at bat.
Just awful and it will cost him.

Fb above middle, grounder to Torres, should be two, but Volpe fumbles for a moment on transfer, and his relay isn't in time. No error on that play, but a misplay handing the Cards an extra out and an extra runner.

Gets a change low near the middle, lines it hard but just foul down 1st. 0-1
FB up and away, taken, Wells throws behind Winn, and it's fairly close, but he got back. 1-1
Slider misses low/away, 2=1
Sinker well outside slapped down 3rd, Chisholm dives to his right, and can't get there, goes for a single to left as Verdugo gets on it quickly enough to hold Burleson at 1st.
1st and 3rd, 1 down for Arenado.

That was a good pitch, not rewarded, good spoil by Arenado.
FB overthrown way high, no chance waist pitch. Uncompetitive as Boone would put it.
