it's hard to believe that we don't have better than Warren in the system He came into this season so highly heralded, but my understanding is he pitched poorly in AAA. Don't know why they went with him anyway. He's on the 40 man roster, the other options aren't. |

Cabrera gets a break to start, sinker on the low outside corner not called, 20-25% on Gameday.
Sinker outside, ball 2
Fouls off a cutter 2-1
Takes a curve down and in, 3-1
Takes a sinker outside, same pitch at the 1-0, maybe 1/2 inch closer and still outside, 0% on Gameday, Cabrera has to go back after starting to 1st, make up call, 3-2
Cutter on the outer half, rolled over to Donovan, throws him out, 1 down.

Takes a Fb well high, 1-1
FB up and in, popped foul out of play near the Cards' dugout.
Ruh roh, shaggy.
Chases a FB well high, strike 3. 2nd K for Soto against a pitcher who almost literally should NEVER strike him out.
Again: if both Soto and Judge are slumping together, the collapse might be shocking.

He has stunk in every start in the majors. This is his 6 start. Does not matter what he may have done in Scranton. He can;t pitch at this level. |

Again, with Warren, the issue is command, and these starts with the Yanks are NOT a fair test because...
His 1st start against the Phils was on 4 days rest.
The next start (the Angels) was on 6 days' rest.
The next start (White Sox) was on 6 days' rest
The next start (Rockies) was on 10 days' rest
This start is again on 6 days rest.
If your main problem is command, pitching with multiple days of extra rest will make that problem worse.

Sinker inside jams him a bit, he pops to Verdugo in short left, inning over.
Finally, a 1-2-3 for Warren on 11 pitches, 76 through 4.
Bottom 4, 4-1 Yanks
Judge, Wells and Chisholm for the Yanks in their half of the 4th.
