The fuss is that essentially, he's the Yanks top prospect, is hitting very well in AAA, hit well when he played here late last season, and he's being blocked by Verdugo, who has been producing essentially nothing for 3 months. There is zero risk attached to giving your top-prospect a chance over a guy who isn't giving you anything. If he hits even at league average, he's an upgrade. If he struggles, so what? You're not getting anything out of the guy he's replacing anyway. It's just blind deference to a veteran player and not even a long-tenured Yankee at that. OK...but what's all the fuzz about?
