Wells goes after a curve below the knees, fouls it. Gets a change down the middle, lined to right for a hit.

Stanton takes a cutter outside, ball 1. Jams himself on a sinker on the inner 3rd, popped foul near the stands between home and the 3rd base dugout, catches, 1 down.

Chisholm takes a cutter into the zone up and away, 0-1 Sinker to the same spot, swung on and missed, 0-2 Sinker a bit below and inside of that one, hits it pretty well, but the fliner to medium deep left has no chance and goes almost straight to Happ for the 2nd out.

Rizzo... Takes a sinker outside below the waist, 1-0 Takes another outside above the waist, 2-0 Takes a cutter below and outside middle, 2-1 Sinker outside middle, but he gets on top of it, grounds it to the right side, gets past Busch, but Hoerner is right there, throws to Busch, who gets back to 1st, inning over.
Bottom 4, 1-0 Yanks. 11 pitches in the 4th for Assad, and 55 through 4. 3-4-5 for the Cubs in their half of the 4th inning: Suzuki, Bellinger and Hoerner.

It means the pitch is not really in a location that should jam him, but he's lunging a bit expecting a ball further away, and hits it up close to the trademark. Name that Yankee is my picture icon. TOO EASY DRILL SARGEANT!

Schmidt isn't getting that low strike call today, still pitching through it.

Suzuki takes a slider above and inside middle, 0-1 Slider on the outside corner, not called, 25% on Gameday, Suzuki got a break on that one. Cutter well outside, near the bottom, 2-1 Cutter at the top of the zone, outer 3rd, popped to center, wind carries it and Judge in, catches, 1 down.

Bellinger takes a sinker low in the zone, 0-1 Takes a sinker down and in, 1-1 Sinker about 4-5 inches outside, lined to center for a 1-out sinker.

Hoerner takes a slider well outside, ball 1 Slider outside middle, chopped to 3rd, Chisholm gets the force at 2nd, but Hoerner is way too fast, easily beats the relay. 2 down.

What a throw by Wells to get the speedy Hoerner.

Good to have Wells throwing behind the plate. Trevino looks like something needs to be fixed in his shoulder.

Hoerner starts way early and is trapped. Schmidt weirdly turns clockwise to throw instead of just stepping off and toward 1st, and his pickoff throw is too late.
Cutter in the zone up and in is taken, 0-1 Swanson takes a cutter well outside, Hoerner goes, and Wells makes the modern "perfect throw" about 3 feet to the left of 2nd so Torres can grab it and tag his butt for the caught stealing. Inning over.
Top 5, 1-0 Yanks. 12 pitches for Schmidt in the 4th, he's at 59, but Cortes already warming for his "piggyback" role, and that might be it for Schmidt for today. Volpe, Verdugo and back to the top for Torres for the Yanks in the 5th.
