Tauchman swings over a change to the knees in the middle, 2-1
Throw over on Swanson.
Cutter to the inside corner just below the waist, bounced foul off 1st, 2-2
Takes his timeout as Cole comes set.
FB outside corner, just above waist high at 96, foul tipped into the mitt, K, inning over.
Top 4, 2-1 Cubs.
20 pitches for Cole in the 3rd, and 59 through 3. Might be just 5 innings today for Cole, so the bullpen might have a lot of work to do. It's well rested, but still...

Curve down the middle, popped high to right center, Crow-Armstrong moves for it, Tauchman calls him off late, catches, 1 down.

Rizzo takes a sinker way low, inner half, 1-0
Rizzo way out front of a sinker tailing outside, Taillon took something off that one, so maybe it was actually a change.
Curve just below the knees, fouled, 1-2
Back leg slider, Rizzo starts, but checks well in time, 2-2
Sinker low and away in the zone, Rizzo goes with it, but misses under, high fly to left is a can o'corn for Happ, 2 down.

Volpe takes a waist-high cutter on the corner away, 0-1
Curve backs up just inside, 1-1
Sinker stays well outside and a bit low, 2-1
Cutter misses outside by 4-5 inches, Volpe doesn't chase, 3-1
FB down and in with good run, but still in the zone, Volpe takes a big hack but misses, 3-2
Backs the sinker to the outside corner, Volpe gives up on it, and ꓘ's. Started to go to 1st but a perfect sinker by Taillon, 70-75% on Gameday. Inning over.
Bottom 4, 2-1 Cubs.
14 pitch 1-2-3 for Taillon in the 4th, 69 through 4.

Curve starts at his head, he ducks but it misses up and in, 2-1
Curve on the outer 3rd, waist high, hits it deep to center, Judge reads it late, but it's high enough so that he can get back and catch it, 1 down.

FB hits the low inside corner, not called again, 30% on Gameday. 1-0 on Crow-Armstrong.
Cutter misses below the inner 3rd, 2-0
Cutter waist high, inner 3rd, he's late and under, popped well back of 3rd, Verdugo probably has the easily play but Volpe calls late, cuts across and catches with a lunge, 2 down.

Volpe will try to catch anything within reach unless forcibly stopped.
Amaya takes a curve inside, 1-0
Takes a FB at the knees near middle, 1-1
FB in the zone above and outside middle, he's late and under, pops to Soto in short right, he jogs in and catches, inning over.
Top 5, 2-1 Cubs.
Another nice 1-2-3 for Cole, just 10 pitches, and he's even with Taillon now at 69 through 4.
Verdugo, then back to the top for Torres and Soto, who get their 3rd look at Taillon.

Sinker outer 3rd above the waist, slapped hard to the 56 hold, beats Swanson's dive to his right for a leadoff single.
Verdugo's hit it hard twice today.

Judge gets a 1st pitch sinker in the middle, thigh high, grounds it sharply but right to Parades, who throws him out, inning over.
Bottom 5, 2-1 Cubs.
12 pitches for Taillon in the 5th, 81 through 5.
Mastrobuoni, then back to the top for Happ and Swanson for the Cubs in their half of the 5th inning.
Yanks now 1-5 with RISP and the one hit didn't score anyone as Chisholm held 3rd on Rizzo's single.
