Splitter high, ball 1 Swings over a curve dropping low, 1-1 Splitter dives outside, 2-1 Curve bends inside, 3-1. Curve drops on the inside corner above the knees, ties him up a bit, fouls it off, 3-2 Leiter comes set, then steps off, looks Henderson back to 2nd. Tries to pull a splitter on the outside corner, up in the zone, pulls it hard, but right to Torres, who starts a 4-6-3 DP. Yanks lucky he tried to pull that one instead of going with it to left or left-center, 103.9 off the bat, and a .490 XBA.
Bottom 7, 4-1 O's. Chisholm, Rizzo and Volpe for the Yanks in the 7th.

I was trying the think of Weiter’s name while I was typing that. They must kill catchers… At least arguably the two best Orioles catchers have been Gus Triandos and Rick Dempsey, who both came over from the Yankees. The defensive stat-mongers of today would love Dempsey…

Offal good to see ordure used correctly. So to recap...ordure was used correctly tonight....Dominguez was not. Well, the decision to start Verdugo was ordurely. Wait, that isn't a word...

Hard throwing lefty Cionel Perez into the game to face Chisholm and Rizzo. Sinker at the very bottom outer 3rd, 0-1 Sinker low and outside 1-1. Sinker at the knees down and in, chopped toward the 56 hole, Kay says, "gonna be a tough play", but Henderson says, "No, it's not", as he calmly backhands and throws him out by plenty.

FB above and outside middle, fouled off. FB in the same spot, swung on and missed, 0-2 FB just outside, popped over 3rd, Coswer playing Rizzo that way, races in, lunges to backhand and he can't get there, it lands fair and goes into the stands for a very cheap ground rule double. Man on 2nd, 1 down for Volpe.

Volpe takes a sinker on the corner inside, 0-1 Takes a slider above and outside middle, 0-2 Slider down and in, takes a weak hack but spoils. Chases an obvious ball inside, and he manages to get the hands in and foul it oof. Slider in the zone down and in, he opens up early and lunges, pops it up to the left of the mound, Urias comes over from 3rd, catches, 2 down.

lol, Westburg. Verdugo with another grounder to second, fortunately mishandled by Westbumble.

Verdugo up. Sinker outside middle, chopped past the mound, Westburg charges, fumbles, and has no play on Verdugo who got out of the box well that time. 1st and 3rd, 2 down for Torres. Hyde goes right to Yennier Cano, his excellent right handed set-up man. Mostly sinker 96-7 (52%) and change91 (25%), also throws 4-seam at 97, about 12%, and slider 87 about 12% Torres is 3-7 vs. Cano with 1 BB and 1 K.
