Good to see ya Chi! Glad you could join!
Glad I could make it. I was out with a friend for dinner but the poor guy is a diehard White Sox fan, so there was very little baseball talk. Yikes! My condolences to your friend. They just swept the Angels though. Trying to avoid the most losses in one season in history.

OK, Yanks get no days off to enjoy, start a 3-game series against the Pirates tomorrow. All three games on YES.
1st game is tomorrow evening at 7:07 pm. Hard throwing righty rookie Jared Jones (6-8, 4.14 ERA) starts for Pittsburgh. He got off to a blazing start this year, but missed over two months with a strained lat. He's struggled since his return, 0-2 in 5 starts with a 6.15 ERA, just one good start in the five. But he's a rookie and he throws hard, so we know what that means. Carlos Rodon (16-9 with 3.98 ERA) makes his last start of the regular season, hoping to keep his ERA under 4.00 for the year. He's pitched four good starts in a row: 2-0 in a 1.93 ERA.
2nd game is Saturday afternoon at 1:07 pm, a matchup of hard-throwing rookie righties. Paul Skenes has fulfulled the forecasts of his greatness, at least so far, and starts for Pittsburgh, Skenes is 11-3 with a 1.99 ERA, 166 K's and 32 BB in 131 innings with just 10 HR allowed. He's given up just 2 runs in 22 innings in his last 4 starts without a HR, 31 K's and 6 BB. Luis Gil (15-6, 3.27 ERA) starts for the Yanks; he didn't pitch well in his last start against the A's, but the Yanks got him a win by scoring 5 runs while he was in the game.
3rd game is Sunday afternoon, but not the usual delayed matinee at 1:37, but the MLB mandated everybody-starts-at-the-same-time-on-the-last-day-of-the-season at 3:05 pm start time. Junkballing lefty Bailey Falter (8-9, 4.26 ERA) starts for the Pirates, 3-2 with a 5.18 ERA in his last 8 starts. Clarke Schmidt (5-5, 2.55 ERA) starts for the Yanks, hoping to get his first win since coming off the IL.
Series preview done, I'll make a last check of notifications.

A good excuse to end the night with a martini in hand! Hopefully more Yankees celebrations to come. Hopefully I don't wake up with a headache.

That Skenes-Gil dual could be a good one. I'm looking forward to seeing Skenes pitch. He's been incredible. Hopefully the Yanks can solve him.

Congrats to the Yankees on finishing first in the east during this roller coaster 2024 season! Let's hope this game (featuring a strong performance by Cole) snowballs the team into October, and this time they finally go all the way! Go Yankees!!!
