Yeah for the most part "talent shows up over time". Well, in the postseason there are short series, therefore there's not much time as there would be in the regular MLB season.
The quote means that the better team doesn't always win in the playoffs. The quote doesn't say that the hot team doesn't win. The quote doesn't say it was just luck nor does it suggest that teams aren't good.
Well...then you have to define the "better" team. IMO, the team that wins 4 out of 7 games is the "better" team...at least for that series. BTW...we all know what a clutch hitter is, but is there really any way to quantify that? Go to the BR-splits. Look at the situational hitting. Munson is an excellent example who was a different hitter in the clutch. Get back to me if you don’t see it… There’s not a stat for it, but there are stats to back it up…

Plus, a better won loss record over the entire MLB regular season. I had friends in Seattle who felt that way.

I had friends in Seattle who felt that way. If you mean the 2000 postseason...Do you think that the Mariners had a better roster than the Yankees that season? Yes, the reference was to Seattle and season 2001. That crew had a 116 win season then lost a championship series 4 -1 to the Yankees. Many Mariners fans were crushed by that series. The Mariners had a deep roster with players suited to their home field and style of play. While I don't have a formula or method to make an absolute, incontrovertible determination of the quality of a roster, I love the conversation. At the end I accept the results on the field. The Yankees won, so I say they had a better roster loaded with guys with championship experience and maybe even championship DNA. What say you ?

I share that same opinion when comparing the Pirates 1960 roster vs the Yankees 1960 roster.

I heard that many Yankees including Whitey didn’t understand why he didn’t start game one. Especially, since during the regular season, Whitey pitched on irregular rest to match him up with the other team’s best pitcher.

My glucose meter runneth over… Forget the ice cream. Just being home from school watching a World Series day game is enough.
