In my opinion, with prices like that there's no excuse not to re-sign Soto and Torres. Do teams in the playoffs have to share ticket revenue with anyone besides the team they are playing? I did a search on this and couldn't find a recent article but did see one from a few years back. At that time, and it could still be the same, all ticket revenue from all playoff games are pooled. The world series winner gets the largest share and all other playoff teams get shares based upon where they finished.

Yes they do. Players get about 60% of the gate receipts from the first 3 games of a series of 5 game sor fewer and the first 4 games of a 7 game series. The balance of the local revenue goes according to the standard formula for local revenue sharing. The TV money is divided accordinng to the national contract. So too is cash generated from WS merch. Winning in the playoffs does result in extra cash for the team owner but most of it gets shared.

There's a cost for all the people working in the stadium during a game, concession workers, customer service, security, etc....

I probably shouldn't reveal this, but inger has donated the toothpicks for all Yankees' World Series home game since 1976. And, the rounded ones, not the cheap flat ones.

I believe the formula is for teams to pool the 48% of all local revenue during the regular season and then divide the pool by 30. The balance of the funds are retained at home and the costs for generating the funds are taken from that fund plus whatever 1/30th of all MLB dollars come back to the team after the home split. This is where things might get a lot murkier. The Steinbrenner family, and many other owners I would think, have large stakes in companys that sell food, drink and merch at the Stadium. Think Legends Hospitallity. They also own a good piece of YES. How the money gets finagled among all those players before it floats back to MLB is beyond me. If I understood, I'd be able to afford those WS tickets we are readiing about !

I know. That is why I put the quotes around free in my post. I understand you have to have cable with a plus package to get YES or access it by an app which is not without cost, but at least the price of a game is less than what is paid for to get a cup of Starbucks coffee. My fear is that the WS and perhaps a lot of other events will cost be on a pay per view basis with charges that fall in line with prize fights or similar events. Gotcha… If that happens then I’m out! I get annoyed with games on Prime, apple and all this streaming stuff. I’m old school, I just want to turn on the TV and watch the games. I don’t want to jump through hoops with logons, passwords or pay anymore money than we already pay for cable. I'm old school too. How many different subscriptions are fans supposed to have? To each their own, but if they start with pay per view stuff, MLB will lose me as a fan.

Too each their own, but if they start with pay per view stuff, MLB will lose me as a fan. I pay $150. annually for MLB.TV. I "watch" at least 150 Yankee games a year, plus a few other teams, so I consider it relatively cheap entertainment. We also happen to have Prime & Apple, which we pay for, but it does pizz me off that after paying for MLB.TV I have to watch some games on other streaming services.

Rich guys like Inger and Kaybi enjoy a higher level of service ! www.mlb.com/yankees/ballpark/events/catering

Luxury suites are "bad" enough. For whatever reason, I find restaurants at ballparks a bit disturbing. Who would sit in a restaurant to eat while a game is being played?
