Fine, but can you flip a few food tables in the clubhouse after disastrous losses? Dinner is for winners.

I'm confused, why is Michael Kay even wasting time talking about Joe Kelly? His opinion is irrelevant.

Agreed with the first line ... but sometimes players need a good kick in the ass Disagree with the 2nd line ... usally the player that gets called out either steps up or steps out I could be wrong because my memory isn't what it used to be. But, I don't remember any player stepping up because their manager called them out in public. How about public comments from a General Manager ? You know I am not a big fan of Brian Cashman but I think his comments about Giancarlo Stanton's conditioning influenced how G went about his business last winter and paid dividends this season. Maybe it wasn't screaming...but it was pointed and it was public.

Didn't Reggie Jackson hit those 3 home runs in the last game of the 1977 World Series a few months after Billy Martin removed him from that game at Fenway? I always look at that as an "FU" moment by Reggie to Billy for that incident months earlier.

I didn't really appreciate it when I heard Cashman's comments against Stanton, but look at his numbers this season...and his "Mr. October" post-season...so it may work with some players, while others might just fall into a deeper funk after being singled out.

I am not advocating managers screaming at players. I do question whether some players get motivated by criticis. It will be interesting to watch the Lakers situation given the actions of their coach.

The Stanton incident is an interesting one. In September a frustrated Stanton during a press conference said somthing has to change and at least alluded to changing his offseason apporoach. Both he and his agent were caught offguard by Cashman's comments which came in November and there was a "clear the air" meeting shortly after. It appears that Stanton had already made the decision to change his offseason approach, did Cashman's comments add more motivation? That's hard to say but at the time he made the comments Stanton seemed pretty determined. Cashman was stating a fact about Stanton and seemed surprised when Stanton's agent reacted the way he did. He's not dumb and probably knew it would elicit a response. What was Cashman's motive, I have no idea, he seems like a strange man to me who at times enjoys pushing buttons and acting surprised with reactions.

Reggie's batting average was .287 at the time he was taken out of that game. His batting average that season was .286.

Honestly, screaming managers in life or sport have always reduced my motivation and made me want to strike back. F’em… Maybe that's why you didnt make it to the show?

I wonder what kind of language is "spoken" during today's MLB "arguments" between an umpire and manager? Does it ever get this heated up? And why aren't there any microphones picking up the dialogue in today's baseball heated exchanges, like there were back in the 1970s and 80's?
Surprised more fans don't love Boone, he may not scream at players enough but he has had more than his fair share of run ins with the men in blue during his tenure as Yankee skipper. I think that is the one thing that is holding Boone ... Otherwise he is a great supportive manager

I quit jobs over shitty management and sought and found greener pastures until it was time for me to be put out to pasture. I did all right for myself, as far as I wanted to go…
