Simple question .I see a lot of Boone hate on here and I'm curious as to why .Sure he makes some head scratchers like any other manager but most of those probably have to do with behind the scenes info we don't have access to. Is all the hate because Torres bats 9th? I honestly don't see any reason to think he's doing a bad job I like him much more than Girardi and feel he's doing good for a first year manager he seems to learn from mistakes and isn't stubborn he'll admit when he makes mistakes only thing i don't like is his reliance on Shreve. Then again if it was up to us... We would never see the emergence of Holder. Ditto if Girardi was managing. Girardi would have Holder in the dog house or have Cashman putting him on the shuttle to Scranton.

Can the two no 's give some sort of explanation? and if it has to do with batting order... alumnus.caltech.edu/~raj/writing/BattingOrder.htmlThe difference between a convetional batting order and the best tested order (descending OBA), though, is comparatively small- about .4 games a season, or two games every five seasons.

Sierchio, this has nothing to do with you, but this information/link/study is awful. I wouldn't use it to justify anything IMO. It is utter ass gravy.

long ago in American politics there was an investigation into what comprised pornography.....and one Senator said something like " I don't know how to define it, but I know it when I see it".......
In a similar way, I know when I am seeing substandard managing, and I am seeing it this year.....

You posed two different questions on the thread title and inside the thread, sierchio. Are you happy with Boone? Eh. Are you satisfied with Boone? Yes, I am.
He's definitely made some rookie mistakes which have been noted by CHI and Rizzuto in the game thread but overall I have to be satisfied with the total result.

I'm willing to give Boone a thumbs up, but would love to see an evaluation of his line up configuration. The lineup and Shreve have been my biggest problems so far. With the emergence of Torres and Andujar as legitimate big league hitters, Boone's job to make out the line up became a lot tougher. In the beginning of the year, slotting those two anywhere from 7th to 9th was a no brainer, but now they have proven to be two of the best and most consistent hitters. Neither has gone into a long slump like Didi, Sanchez, Bird, Gardner etc. I would have Torres batting 3-6 and Andujar 5-6. Batting Torres ninth has become idiotic. I wasn't a big Joe G. fan because if you put coal (not A.J.) up his ass, he would produce diamonds (not baseball). I think Boone has the team playing hard and having fun at the same time. Managing the Yanks is not easy, but Boone has shown a willingness to learn from his mistakes and change. I like that.

I've been repeating those last two sentences in this thread and last night game thread. I think that we're never out of it attitude comes from the manager on down. I think he's a great fit with NY. Actually think he's the perfect guy for the job... Being that he is willing to learn from mistakes.. He's just going to get better. I like his "from spring training we've been telling our guys to win every at bat" motto. Romine has credited Boone with his better offense this season... The players seem to like playing for him.. you didn't get the vibe that Girardi and the young kids were on same page..

I voted yes. That doesn’t mean there aren’t things to gripe about, nor that he’s mistake-free. One thing I do like is the difference in the way he manages CC. Girardi got so paranoid about CC’s pitch count last year that the issue almost BECAME a reality through mismanagement...
Last night I tried to log in, and for some reason I was unable to get the log in function to work. I wrote a medium-length post on this thread as a “Guest”, but it apparently was lost in cyberspace somewhere...that post was very different from this one, as I pointed out many of Boone’s faults and errors. Seems most or all were covered by others, so i’ll Leave this at.. he’s a rookie. He’s supposed to make some mistakes. The key will be if he learns from them. Hell, his team is playing near .700 ball. What do you want, .900???

Indians' Terry Francona says miscommunication led to bullpen collapse
With two outs and the bases loaded after two more walks, Indians manager Terry Francona wanted a new reliever to close it out.
There was just one problem. Francona said afterward there was a miscommunication. He requested "OP" -- Oliver Perez -- and it was understood as "OT," Otero's nickname, and Otero was told to warm up in the bullpen.
When the pitching change was made, Francona realized something had gone wrong.
"When I saw OT coming through the gate, it was not the guy I was expecting," Francona told reporters.
Imagine if this happened to Boone? We'd be KILLING him right now.

Right. Blame it on him being a rookie and say it would never happen to a vet manager like Tito... Then site how many rookie mistakes Boone made this season...
