That Eovaldi signing looks pretty damn smart right about now.

Three hits and one walk in five innings and only 83 pitches. Nice job by Chance Adams in his debut against the best team in baseball on the road. Doesn't help the Red Sox have cy young starting back to back days.

There aren't many work places that don't have grooming and dress codes for grown men and women. I'd love to wear shorts, Hawaiian shirts, and flip-flops everyday, but alas...all in all, a shave and a haircut is a small sacrifice to make millions of dollars, have innumerable, first-class amenities, and be part of an historic franchise. There aren’t many. But Major League Baseball Ian one of them. If it were an accounting firm, or the company I work for, or the military, of course it might be a different story. The Yankees just happened to formerly be owned by a guy who liked to pretend he was coaching the football team at West Point. As you and I have both been known to write, George is dead. The tradition continues without him...

They must not have been in on him at all for whatever reason because the Sox didn’t exactly empty the farm system to get him. Really too bad the Yanks couldn’t have put up some runs for Adams but at least he pitched well.

Otherwise people like Randy Levine wouldn’t be employed by the business.

Worse than how the Yanks have played the last three games is watching this broadcast on NESN and hearing that mole Jerry Remy and that clown Dennis Eckerlsey yucking it up like a couple of girls at a sleepover party.

I don’t find an appeal either way. George was forced to go to military school so he decided it was important because those were the values he was brainwashed to believed in. George is gone. It isn’t any more appealing that the Yankees micromanage the grooming of grown men. We don’t care what Chance Adams’ hair looks like, I care if he can get hitters out or not. Now, my dress code is my own. I wear nice sneakers (as my grand daughter said, “Look, Grampy is rockin’ DCs), a polo or button up shirt. Since this is Colorado, I do wear shorts to work now. Jean shorts some days, even. Pueblo tends toward sunny, 100 degree days. I even see some folks wearing sandals out here, and jeans are well accepted in the office place. I spoke to a guy a couple of days ago that told me my neatness was the #1 reason he gave me the time of day. So I take that to mean that I’m meeting the standards of my profession. He still hasn’t made a purchase yet, but I’m going back again next week for further discussion...

I can’t imagine...Happy to have Direct TV at a time like this. Well, this will all be over in about 15 minutes. I have to go to town to buy more gas for the mower to finish mowing the neighbor’s yard. He’s 81 years old. His mower battery is dead. I’m glad the battery died. I hate to see him mow. He only goes for about 20 minutes st a time because his knee hurts him so much when he mows. He seldom actually completes the entire job. Lovely people, but both are getting frail, I fear...

The Yankees just happened to formerly be owned by a guy who liked to pretend he was coaching the football team at West Point. For all of Steinbrenner's faults, he played a significant role in rescuing a failing franchise from CBS and in establishing an organizational culture that remains recognizable over 40 years later. Somehow, looking like a character from The Treasure of the Sierra Madre just doesn't fit in seamlessly with "the Yankee way."

Absolutely horseshit calls on these last two strikeouts. Phil Cuzzi apparently has an appointment to have someone grope his balls in South Boston tonight.
