MOMMY IS NOT HAPPY: --01-10-21: (HEE, HEE, HEE…)—YOUR SON IS GOING TO JAIL—YOU CAN FINALLY RENT OUT HIS ROOM IN THE BASEMENT: us.yahoo.com/news/horned-capitol-rioter-failed-actor-141924227.html Horned Capitol rioter is ‘failed actor and QAnon conspiracy theorist who lives with his mother’!!!
A Trump supporter who became known as the ‘QAnon shaman’ after being pictured during riots at the US Capitol is reportedly a “failed actor” and conspiracy theorist described by his mother’s neighbours as “bizarre."
Jacob Angeli Chansley, 33, was charged with entering a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds after he participated in the mob that laid siege to the Capitol on Wednesday.
He was photographed wearing horns and carrying a spear while rioting in the Senate debating chamber and had painted his face with red, white and blue face paint.
According to the Daily Mail, Chansley has been living with his 56-year-old mother, Martha, since January 2019 after he was evicted from his apartment in Phoenix, Arizona, owing US$ 1,247 in rent arrears.
The newspaper reported that Chansley is unemployed, having failed to launch an acting career, and has been seen wandering through his mother’s neighbourhood in Glendale dressed in the same costume he wore to the Capitol riots.
He also has a car bumper sticker with the word ‘WQKE’ and the hashtags ‘#AllAboutTheChildren’ and ‘#TheGreatAwakening’, which are references to the QAnon conspiracy theory movement that believes in the existence of a vast underground pedophile ring.
Chansley is a fixture at anti-lockdown rallies and has been seen at numerous pro-Trump demonstrations over the last year, including one in February where he was photographed holding a sign that read “Q Sent Me”.
In September, Chansley reportedly led a protest at Arrowhead Mall in Glendale, in which he claimed a spiral sign close to the bathrooms in the shopping centre was “an FBI pedophile code” ARTICLES OF THE DAY:--01-10-21: edition.cnn.com/2021/01/09/politics/donald-trump-dangerous-capitol-riot/index.html The day America realized how dangerous Donald Trump is
(CNN)When the history of the 45th presidency is written, Wednesday, January 6, will go down as the day America realized how dangerous President Donald Trump really is.
In the span of hours, the country finally witnessed the price of its five-year experiment turning its election process into a reality show that produced an unhinged megalomanic as commander-in-chief who amassed so much power through his lies and fear-mongering that he was able to engineer an insurrection as a final act that left democracy dangling by a thread.BRAVO TIME:*** A MUST READ: us.cnn.com/2021/01/09/politics/parler-lin-wood-mike-pence/index.html Mediaite: Parler CEO says it took down post from Lin Wood calling for Mike Pence's execution (CNN)The CEO of Parler, a social media platform popular among conservatives, told Mediaite that it removed a post from attorney Lin Wood calling for Vice President Mike Pence to be executed by "firing squads." "Yes, some of his parleys that violated our rules were taken down," John Matze told Mediaite, specifying that the post, or parley, about the "firing squads" was among those removed.
Wood, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, told CNN, "I made NO threat. I do not believe in violence. I do believe in the rule of law."
"I have reliable evidence that Pence has a engaged in acts of treason. My comments were rhetorical hyperbole. Any journalist should understand that concept. If my information is accurate, law enforcement will address what punishment, if any, should be administered to Pence as they do with all criminals," Wood said.
Wood posted on Parler on Thursday, according to Mediate, "They let them in. Get the firing squads ready. She told NBC Los Angeles that the crowd started following her after she flipped them off. "A bunch of women and men started yelling, 'take off your mask, don't wear a mask,'" she said, telling the outlet that she asked one man in the group to leave her alone. When a UPS driver walked onto the front porch of a Milwaukee home last month, the man eyed the package’s recipient name: Hugo Aviles.
Moments later, without ringing the doorbell or knocking, he began writing a failed delivery attempt notice and explained why Aviles, a Latino police officer, would not get his package.
“Now you don’t get f----- nothing cause you’re a stupid m---------- who can’t read and write and speak the f------ English language,” the man said in a Dec. 17 recording of the incident, which was captured by Aviles’s security camera and posted to social media.
On Tuesday, after activists in Milwaukee held a news conference urging the company to take action, UPS announced that the driver, who the company did not name, has been terminated.
“There is no place in any community for racism, bigotry or hate,” a spokesman with the company told NBC News. “This is very serious and we promptly took action, terminating the driver’s employment.”
“We just want to make sure that UPS is serious and wants to make amends with the Latino community," Shirley Aviles, the man’s mother told The Washington Post in an interview late Tuesday.
Video of the Dec. 17 incident shows the unidentified UPS driver approaching Aviles’s front door at around 7 p.m. After his rant, the driver pasted the failed delivery note on the door, shaking his head in apparent disapproval.
Although the man did not explicitly name Aviles in his “racist remarks,” Shirley Aviles told The Post that she has no doubt the driver was referring to her son, whose name was printed on the box.

MUST READS:
--01-10-21 FOR OVER TEN YEARS I HAVE BEEN SAYING SUCH: us.yahoo.com/news/charles-blow-greatest-threat-democracy-143211737.html Charles Blow on the greatest threat to our democracy: White supremacyCharles M. Blow is a New York Times columnist. There are many historical precedents for the way White supremacy responds when that perceived supremacy is threatened. One example unfolded during Reconstruction. At the end of the Civil War, several Southern states were majority-Black, and several others were within striking distance of being majority-Black. Then, the ratification of the 15th Amendment gave Black men the right to vote, which in turn made some of the electorates majority-Black. This was a serious threat to absolute White power, so White supremacists banded together in Mississippi (a Black power center during Reconstruction) and formed the Red Shirts, a group of vigilantes who used pressure, intimidation and violence to prevent Black people from voting. What they couldn't achieve numerically at the ballot, they would achieve through terror in the community. Their efforts worked so well that Red Shirt groups soon sprang up in other Southern states. After their success, Mississippi called a Constitutional Convention in 1890 to severely restrict Black suffrage, and write White supremacy into the DNA of the state. State after state across the South followed the Mississippi example, establishing "Jim Crow" as the code of the region for more than 60 years. I came to know these facts academically, as an act of scholarship, but I couldn't fathom living through such a period. That was until this election, which provided a modicum of similarity to that period over a century ago. Donald Trump tried to intimidate voters before and during the election, then sought to erase legal ballots after they were cast. He attacked large cities in swing states (those with a large percentage of Black people) as corrupt. And, with his legal challenges expired, his efforts culminated in a deadly insurrection in Washington, his loyalists exploding in violence in support of his attempted coup. Make no mistake: the red hats marauding through the halls of the United States Capitol were a throwback to the Red Shirts terrorizing the Southern countryside. As my friend Darren Walker, president of the Ford Foundation, wrote, not only is White supremacy the greatest threat to democracy, democracy is the greatest threat to White supremacy.
Because when Democracy works, White supremacists will always, reflexively, be rattled – whether in the 19th century, or the 21st. --01-10-21: us.yahoo.com/news/might-not-looked-riot-capitol-213315746.html It might not have looked like it, but the riot at the Capitol was all about white fear | Opinion
So what now?
A few things, actually. But before we get to them, we must recognize last week’s insurrectionist rampage at the Capitol for what it was. It is being seen, and not wrongly, as the angry response of delusional right wingers lied into believing a presidential election was stolen. It is being framed, and not without reason, as the ultimate statement of white privilege; a white mob allowed to ransack the Capitol — virtually none was arrested and some even took selfies with police — in the same city where peaceful protesters asserting that Black Lives Matter were met with military force. But for all the other things that riot was, it was also an expression of fear — the panic of those who find themselves outnumbered. One cannot overemphasize a simple fact: In only one of the eight presidential elections since 1993 — Bush v. Kerry in 2004 — has the Republican Party won the popular vote. Seven times, the majority of voters have sided with the Democrats. GOP leaders — and the resentful white voters who are their core constituency — understand what this means. They know they’ve lost the debate over LGBTQ rights, immigration, race and all the other issues marking the line between left and right. They realize the nation’s population of angry white people is dwarfed by its rainbow coalition of white, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Islamic, Jewish, LGBTQ and others who demand, in the words of the pledge we learned as children, liberty and justice for all. This is why Republicans have erected barriers — photo ID laws, voter purges, polling-place closures — to keep Democratic constituencies from voting. And it’s why those thugs felt themselves righteous in attacking the Capitol. To return, then, to the question with which we opened: In the short term, those responsible for security at the Capitol must answer before Congress for the failures of same — and then be relieved of duty. Whatever new measures are required to prevent a repeat of Wednesday’s mayhem must be put into effect with alacrity. One such is obvious: Police must learn to stop automatically coding “white” as somehow less threatening. As this melee proves, that creates a dangerous blind spot. --01-10-21: us.yahoo.com/news/former-homeland-security-heads-advice-142847347.html Former Homeland Security head's advice following Capitol attack: "Buckle up"An angry mob running roughshod and unchecked through the Capitol and onto the floor of the United States Senate – a scene as once unthinkable as airplanes crashing into buildings. "They could have blown the building up," said Sen. Lindsey Graham. "They could have killed us all. They could have destroyed the government. We dodged a major bullet yesterday." The barriers erected and manned by the Capitol Police were little more than speed bumps to the angry mob. "They had these pathetic little barricades up beforehand, and what they should have done is had much more robust capabilities well in advance of the sixth of January," said former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. He told CBS News national security correspondent David Martin that the Capitol Police bear primary responsibility. "This strikes me as having been a real dereliction by the Capitol Police," he said. Capitol Police officer dies from injuries in pro-Trump riot But simple dereliction doesn't explain this statement by D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee: "There was no intelligence that suggested there would be a breach of the U.S. Capitol." In fact, social media was full of "Storm the Capitol" rhetoric, including a tweet from President Trump, predicting it "will be wild." And then, there was the rally outside the White House where the president and his ally Rudy Giuliani riled up the crowd. "Let's have trial by combat," Giuliani pronounced.

The prosecutions of the Capitol rioters—including the person or persons who murdered Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick by bludgeoning him with a fire extinguisher—need to be immunized against Trump’s pardon power through joint local and federal prosecutions. While it’s a no-brainer that the rioters committed federal crimes–they were on federal property assaulting federal officers—it’s also a no-brainer that Trump has no qualms against pardoning those who commit violent crimes, including murder. His recent pardon of the Blackwater contractors who had been convicted of murdering unarmed civilians in Iraq makes this plain. But Trump’s pardon power extends only to federal crimes, which is why these cases need to be brought jointly with local jurisdictions like the District of Columbia, as well as nearby Virginia and Maryland, where many of the rioters may have been staying, as well as the home states of rioters farther away from D.C. Serious crimes in D.C. are prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice via the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C., which has unique primary jurisdiction for prosecuting local crimes there, from arrests of protesters to murder. But the investigations for these prosecutions are commonly done by D.C. MPD alone or working with federal law enforcement. Already, news reports indicate that the investigation into Sicknick’s murder is being worked by D.C. Homicide, the FBI, and Capitol Police. The investigation work being done now will yield witnesses and massive amounts of video evidence, all of which will be ultimately presented to a grand jury to bring indictments. And here is where it gets interesting. Unlike most federal prosecutors, the U.S. Attorney in D.C. can bring cases in either federal or local courts and can utilize both federal criminal laws as well as local D.C. laws. So an early question for prosecutors will be whether to utilize a local or federal grand jury and whether to bring local or federal charges. --01-11-21 BRAVO: us.yahoo.com/huffpost/hawley-cruz-disbarred-capitol-riot-094122651.html Thousands Of Lawyers, Law Students Call For Sens. Starting this week and running through at least Inauguration Day, armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols and at the U.S. Capitol, according to an internal FBI bulletin obtained by ABC News.
The FBI has also received information in recent days on a group calling for “storming” state, local and federal government courthouses and administrative buildings in the event President Donald Trump is removed from office prior to Inauguration Day.
The group is also planning to “storm” government offices in every state the day President-elect Joe Biden will be inaugurated, regardless of whether the states certified electoral votes for Biden or Trump.
"The FBI received information about an identified armed group intending to travel to Washington, DC on 16 January," the bulletin read. "They have warned that if Congress attempts to remove POTUS via the 25th Amendment, a huge uprising will occur." Actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger shared an impassioned message on Twitter Sunday morning, likening last week’s riots on the Capitol to the rise of the Nazi party circa 1938, and said Trump will go down in history as the worst U.S. president ever. Watch below.
“I grew up in Austria and very aware of Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass. It was a night of rampage against the Jews carried out in 1938, and the Nazi equivalent to the Proud Boys.
Wednesday was the day of broken glass right here in the United States. The broken glass was in the windows of the United States Capitol. But the mob did not just shatter the windows of the Capitol,” he said.
“They shattered the ideals we took for granted. They did not just break down the doors of the building that housed American democracy: They trampled the very principles upon which our country was founded.”
He added, “President Trump is a failed leader. He will go down in history as the worst president ever. The good news is he will soon be as irrelevant as an old tweet…He sought a coup by misleading people with lies. I know where such lies lead.”
Schwartzegger has been calling out the dangers posed by Trump for some time. “It all started with lies, lies, lies and intolerance. Being from Europe I’ve seen firsthand how bad things can spin out of control,” he said. “We need public servants who serve something larger than their own power.
We need public servants who will serve higher ideals, the ideals on which this country was founded, and the ideals which other countries look up to… We need reforms, of course, so that this never ever happens again.
We need to hold accountable the people that brought us to this unforgivable point. We need to look past ourselves, our partisan disagreements. Put our democracy first. We need to heal together from the trauma of what has just happened. We need to heal, not as Republicans or democrats, but as Americans.”--01-10-21: us.yahoo.com/finance/news/squelched-twitter-trump-seeks-online-222513037.html ... Trump may launch his own platform. But that won't happen overnight, and free speech experts anticipate growing pressure on all social media platforms to curb incendiary speech as Americans take stock of Wednesday’s violent takeover of the U.S. Capitol by a Trump-incited mob. Twitter ended Trump’s nearly 12-year run on Friday. In shuttering his account it cited a tweet to his 89 million followers that he planned to skip President-elect Joe Biden’s Jan. 20 inauguration that it said gave rioters license to converge on Washington once again. Facebook and Instagram have suspended Trump at least until Inauguration Day. Twitch and Snapchat also have disabled Trump’s accounts, while Shopify took down online stores affiliated with the president and Reddit removed a Trump subgroup.
Twitter also banned Trump loyalists including former national security advisor Michael Flynn in a sweeping purge of accounts promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory and the Capitol insurrection. Some had hundreds of thousands of followers.
MUST READS: --01-10-21: us.yahoo.com/news/wake-america-120011545.html Wake Up, America. This Is Who We Are.“This is not who we are,” leaders from across the political spectrum resolutely affirmed this week, when a mob — incited by President Donald Trump and his congressional enablers — crashed through the doors of the Capitol. It’s been called terrorism. Anarchy. An insurrection. But cooler heads agree it was “un-American” — an aberration — and, fundamentally, not who we are as a country. But what if it is? For at least three decades, Americans have watched one incident after another of democratic backsliding and hoped, similarly, that these moments don’t represent who we are. There was the movement to delegitimize Barack Obama based on a false claim about where he was born. There were the Republican state legislators in North Carolina and Wisconsin who stripped constitutional and statutory powers from incoming Democratic governors. Earlier this week, there was the GOP-controlled state Senate in Pennsylvania that simply refused to seat a duly elected Democratic member, using its procedural powers to block the decision of the voters. In the longer arc of history, these backslides aren’t an aberration at all. In fact, they’re quintessentially American, with roots in one of the deepest divisions in American politics, the conflict over race and power. Since the nation’s founding, a large portion of white citizens have embraced free and democratic elections only when the political system did not require them to share power with people of color. This toxic current has shifted over the years. It was once the province of Democrats, and now it lives squarely in the GOP. The geography has changed, too. This used to be a uniquely Southern problem, but demographic changes over the past several decades — creating a realignment that has rendered the Republican Party more homogeneous and the Democratic Party more diverse — have made it national. What hasn’t changed is the underlying pattern, the one growing stronger in today’s Republican Party: a stubborn, and increasingly dangerous, contempt for the will of anyone’s voters but their own. Yes, every crisis is the sum of unique causes. And there are plenty of more recent causes to blame for this one, as well: An information vacuum driven by the demise of traditional news outlets. The rise of far-right media. The advent of social media platforms rife with disinformation and white supremacist bile. But, at its heart, this crisis is simply a reversion to what America has been for most of its history. If we’re to place America’s fragile democracy on stronger ground, we must first acknowledge that for most of our national history, large pockets of the United States have been violently minoritarian — designed to empower a white minority to govern over the diverse majority. What transpired on Wednesday was both tragic and entirely in keeping with American tradition. --01-10-21: us.yahoo.com/lifestyle/white-mans-audacity-110000024.html
… The white man’s audacity is a phenomenon born from the power and privilege they usurped, from a feeling of dominion over this country that was once known as manifest destiny. It is the belief that when America’s forefathers said “we the people” they meant, as our early documents attests, only white people. The white man’s audacity takes shape in sundry ways but one of them is in their utmost sense of safety. For example, the actions of law enforcement—do remember, part of our society that evolved from groups that patrolled the enslaved—that ran the spectrum from downright accommodating, to a one-team-one-dream style of aiding and abetting. Them showing a remarkable sense of physical restraint and reticence to arrest while interacting with white terrorists, them being so kind as to move the barricade to allow a shouting swarm onto the grounds, them handholding an injured woman rioter down the Capitol steps, them posing for a selfie inside the Capitol with a red-hatted seditionist. The white man’s audacity is the belief that all white people are human beings deserved of inalienable rights and then some, while everybody else has “no rights which the white man was bound to respect." Like the right to destroy a government that doesn’t conform to their world, a right by the way, that belongs only to him. The white man’s audacity does not concede; it coerces; it demands. It is the Save America March in which Trump, spouting debunked claims of electoral fraud and calling for retribution, spurred the siege in the first damn place. It is Rudy Giuliani in the same rally, screaming, “Let’s hold trial by combat.” It is both of those men walking free today—with no more censure than social media suspensions—after inciting an attempted coup that endangered congress, and along with fall out galore, lead to the death of at least five human beings. Believe you me, if the treasonous events of Wednesday prove anything, it is that when this failing republic slips over the precipice, the white man’s audacity will own the lion’s share of the blame. --01-10-21 BRAVO: www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/no-marriott-money-for-ted-cruz-josh-hawley-and-all-republicans-who-voted-against-certifying-joe-biden/ar-BB1cD5bR?li=BBnb7Kz Money talks, and at Marriott International , it’s speaking out loudly against those who objected to the certification of the 2020 election following the riots in D.C. last week.“We have taken the destructive events at the Capitol to undermine a legitimate and fair election into consideration and will be pausing political giving from our Political Action Committee to those who voted against certification of the election,” a Marriott spokesperson Popular Information. The political newsletter asked 144 corporations that donated to at least one of the eight objecting senators if they’d continue to offer financial support. In addition to Marriott, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Commerce Bancshares also said they would be suspending donations. “In light of this week’s violent, shocking assault on the United States Capitol, and the votes of some members of Congress to subvert the results of November’s election by challenging Electoral College results, BCBSA will suspend contributions to those lawmakers who voted to undermine our democracy,” Blue Cross Blue Shield said. Separately, high-profile names like Bank of America Ford Motor and AT&T all told Popular Information that they would take recent events into consideration before making future donations. Opinions about the wider context, however, show sharp partisan divides. Many Republicans stop short of unilaterally disavowing the riots or say they view them as unrepresentative of Trump’s supporters. Some baselessly suggest they weren’t the work of his backers at all. A 74% majority of Americans say they disapprove of the actions of the rioters who stormed into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, with 18% approving. A 93% majority of Democrats disapprove, as do 56% of Republicans. Just 14% of the public, including 27% of Republicans, say they felt that the Trump supporters storming the Capitol represented people like them. Most Republicans aren’t willing to condone the rioting, but equally few are willing to whole-heartedly condemn its participants. In answering a separate question, 22% of Republicans say the actions of those storming the Capitol were “mostly right,” 23% say they were “mostly wrong,” and a 46% plurality say “they went too far, but they have a point.” --01-11-21: www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-s-voter-fraud-lies-encouraged-riot-gop-allies-are-n1253509 Trump's voter fraud lies encouraged a riot. The Shasta County Board of Supervisors had planned to meet virtually Jan. 5 because of an uptick in coronavirus cases. The supervisors’ chambers in Redding were closed. Seats had been removed. The public speakers’ microphone was disabled.
But, in protest, a newly elected supervisor unlocked the doors. In poured dozens of people, unmasked, to vent their fury. Three supervisors attending virtually watched from afar as threats flew amid the speeches.
“When Joe Biden’s long winter sets and the dark night comes in this country, do you think you’re going to get to see the dawn?” Timothy Fairfield, 44, of Shingletown asked the supervisors. “No, you will not. Flee now while you can. Because the days of your tyranny are drawing to a close, and the legitimacy of this government is waning.
“When the ballot box is gone,” he added, “there is only the cartridge box. You have made bullets expensive. But luckily for you, ropes are reusable.”

Right-wing extremists are using encrypted channels to call for violence against government officials on Jan. 20, the day President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated, with some extremists sharing knowledge of how to make, conceal and use homemade guns and bombs.
The messages are being posted in Telegram chatrooms where white supremacist content has been freely shared for months, but chatter on these channels has increased since extremists have been forced off other platforms in the wake of the Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump rioters.
In the days since the Capitol attack, for example, a U.S. Army field manual and exhortations to "shoot politicians" and "encourage armed struggle" have been posted in a Telegram channel that uses "fascist" in its name.
Chris Sampson, chief of research at the defense research institute Terror Asymmetrics Project on Strategy, Tactics and Radical Ideologies, said his group is focused on and concerned about users of the channel and has alerted the FBI about it. (TAPSTRI is run by Malcolm Nance, an NBC News terrorism analyst.)
“When they start calling for assassinations, when they start calling for action versus sharing information, we flag them a little higher," said Sampson. But it doesn't know how bad it's gotten.
The Pentagon is confronting a resurgence of white supremacy and other right-wing ideologies in the ranks and is scrambling to track how acute the problem has become in the Trump era.
It's an issue that has simmered in the military for years, but is now front and center following signs that former military personnel played a role in the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol last week.
Tackling the influence of hate groups, racist propaganda and anti-government sentiment in the officer corps and enlisted ranks must be an immediate task for Joe Biden’s pick for secretary of Defense, retired Gen. Lloyd Austin, according to lawmakers, retired military leaders and experts on extremism. If confirmed, Austin would be the first Black defense secretary.
“There is a crisis issue: the rise of extremism and white supremacy in the ranks,” Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.), a retired Army officer and member of the House Armed Services Committee, said in an interview. “That has been fueled by President [Donald] Trump, unfortunately. So that has to be dealt with right away and unequivocally. That’s top of the list.”
The overall problem of right-wing extremism has dogged the military for decades and tends to be more severe when there is a rise in wider society.
It has gained new attention in the wake of the revelation that a retired senior Air Force officer allegedly took part in last Wednesday's riot in the U.S. Capitol and a Navy veteran who also played a leading role was arrested over the weekend.
Meanwhile, a rioter who was killed while trying to break into Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office suite was also an Air Force veteran who espoused far-right and QAnon conspiracies.
In another sign of the challenge, the Army on Monday announced it was ousting a junior officer who was investigated for posting a video to his 3 million TikTok followers joking about Jews being exterminated in Nazi concentration camps.

"I also intend to see that those members of Congress who abetted him — those members of Congress who had groups coming through the capitol that I saw on Jan. 5 for reconnaissance for the next day — those members of Congress who incited the violent crowd, those members of Congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy, I'm going see that they're held accountable," Sherrill said.--01-13-21: www.nytimes.com/2021/01/13/video/extremist-signs-symbols-capitol-riot.html?campaign_id=9&emc=edit_nn_20210113&instance_id=25950&nl=the-morning®i_id=98362458&segment_id=49160&te=1&user_id=f1054b3b9b989deafd744903c62d564c Decoding the Far-Right Symbols at the Capitol Riot
There were militia flags and banners of extremist groups, as well as absurd images of dinosaurs and comic book logos that belied the violence that was to unfold.
Militiamen showed up proudly bearing the emblems of their groups — American flags with the stars replaced by the Roman numeral III, patches that read “Oath Keepers.” Alt-right types wore Pepe the Frog masks, and QAnon adherents could be seen in T-shirts urging people to “Trust the Plan.” White supremacists brought their variant of the Crusader cross.
And then there were thousands of Trump supporters with MAGA gear — flags, hats, T-shirts, thermoses, socks. One flag portrayed President Trump as Rambo; another featured him riding a Tyrannosaurus rex and carrying the kind of rocket-propelled grenade launcher seen on the streets of Mogadishu or Kandahar.
The iconography of the American far right was on display on Jan 6. during the violence at the Capitol. The dizzying array of symbols, slogans and images was, to many Americans, a striking aspect of the unrest, revealing an alternate political universe where violent extremists, outright racists and conspiracy theorists march side by side with evangelical Christians, suburban Trump supporters and young men who revel in making memes to “own the libs.”
Uniting them is a loyalty to Mr. Trump and a firm belief in his false and discredited insistence that the election was stolen. The absurdity of many images — the patches that read “Zombie Outbreak Response Team," for instance — only masked a devotion that inspired hundreds from the crowd to mount a deadly attack on Congress.
“It’s often all a caricature — it looks like military fan fiction — until it’s not and it crosses a very dangerous line,” said Joan Donovan, the research director of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Aaron Mostofsky, the 34-year-old son of prominent Orthodox Jewish community figures and Kings County Supreme Court Judge Shlomo Mostofsky, was seen in multiple photos from the violent insurrection wearing the bizarre fur outfit and a bulletproof vest with “POLICE” emblazoned across it. He was carrying a wooden staff and a plastic riot shield with Capitol Police insignia. Mostofsky has been charged with four offenses including felony theft of government property, knowingly entering or remaining in a restricting building without lawful authority and doing so with intent to impede government business, and disorderly conduct in the Capitol, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Daily Beast. His defense lawyer, Jeffrey Schwartz, declined to comment. A source with the knowledge of the case told The Daily Beast that Mostofsky was arrested early Tuesday at his brother’s house in Brooklyn. ABC7, CNN, and NBC first reported the arrest. In an interview with the New York Post last week, Mostofsky admitted he’d attended the event to protest a “stolen election.” “We were cheated. I don’t think 75 million people voted for Trump—I think it was close to 85 million,” he said. “I think certain states that have been red for a long time turned blue and were stolen, like New York.”

Now, federal prosecutors say they plan to bring seditious conspiracy charges in their rapidly developing probe into the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol last week. The charge is a powerful tool for prosecutors, signaling their intent to treat last week’s siege as a grave assault on national security. Federal prosecutors have filed charges against at least two dozen members of the mob—including the son of a Brooklyn judge and a military veteran who brought plastic zip-tie restraints with him to the Capitol—on charges ranging from gun crimes to assault and theft. A team of senior national-security and public-corruption prosecutors is handling the most serious offenders, federal officials said. “Their only marching orders from me are to build sedition and conspiracy charges related to the most heinous acts that occurred in the Capitol,” Michael Sherwin, the acting U.S. attorney in Washington, said Tuesday. The sedition law dates to the early days of the Civil War when President Lincoln and Congress sought to deter and punish armed resistance to the Union. Sedition generally means encouraging or supporting rebellion against a government. The law specifically makes it a crime to conspire to “overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or prevent the execution” of any U.S. law. Another provision makes it unlawful “to seize, take or possess any property of the United States” by force without authorization. --01-14-21: edition.cnn.com/2021/01/13/tech/parler-violent-groups-deplatformed/index.html The tech industry used 'the nuclear option' to crack down on violent groups organizing online.--01-14-21 WHAT DID ONE EXPECT??? MONTGOMERY, Ala. – An Alabama man who parked a truck filled with Molotov cocktails and a cache of firearms blocks from the U.S. Capitol had "concerning" handwritten notes that named an Obama-appointed federal judge a "bad guy," singled out a Muslim representative and listed contact information for conservative media personalities, according to court records.
The materials were unsealed Tuesday in the federal case against Lonnie Coffman, who was formally indicted on 17 separate weapons charges after his arrest Jan. 6.
Prosecutors included photos of his various weapons and handwritten notes in a motion for pretrial detention, arguing the "handwritten messages raise alarm in the context of the Jan. 6 rioting and criminal infringement on our nation's democratic process."
Coffman, 70, was arrested after a chaotic pro-Trump rally that descended into a riot and deadly insurrection inside the halls of Congress.

"The Molotov cocktail components were created so as to be particularly lethal, with a napalm substance inside that would stick to the target and continue to burn," prosecutors wrote in a detention motion. "The defendant had hundreds of rounds of ammunition, each of which could cost a human life. The pickup truck was parked in close proximity to the U.S. Capitol Building."
Coffman had five illegal firearms, according to prosecutors – two pistols, one revolver, an AR-15 rifle and a shotgun – in addition to the Molotov cocktails and a "large capacity ammo feeding device."--01-13-21: us.cnn.com/2021/01/12/us/military-extremism-capitol-riot-invs/index.html They swore to protect America. Sen. Ron Wyden of the Senate Finance Committee wants the IRS to probe groups that were involved with organizing a rally that led to the riot on Capitol Hill.
Wyden, in a letter on Friday to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig, claimed that some of these groups “may have been involved in inciting or facilitating these illegal acts.”
With Democrats gaining control of the Senate this month, Wyden will likely become the chairman of the committee, giving him and his party more power over such an investigation.--01-14-21 BRAVO: www.nytimes.com/2021/01/13/us/flint-water-crisis-rick-snyder-charges.html?campaign_id=9&emc=edit_nn_20210114&instance_id=25992&nl=the-morning®i_id=98362458&segment_id=49260&te=1&user_id=f1054b3b9b989deafd744903c62d564c Ex-Governor of Michigan Charged With Neglect in Flint Water CrisisRick Snyder, the former governor, faces two misdemeanor counts in the crisis, which left thousands of Flint residents drinking tainted water. --01-15-21 BRAVO: www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/woman-who-flew-in-private-jet-to-washington-d-c-for-trump-rally-arrested-for-role-in-capitol-riots/ar-BB1cN2Bi?li=BBnbcA1 A Texas woman who flew in a private jet to Washington D.C. to join the pro-Trump riots, and then posted photos and videos of herself in the mob as it stormed the building, was arrested Friday, officials said.

--01-16-21: us.yahoo.com/huffpost/trump-supporters-betrayed-203744043.html ... In online havens for MAGA extremists, including Gab, CloutHub, MeWe, Telegram and far-right message boards such as 8kun, the tone toward Trump is shifting.
HuffPost reviewed thousands of messages across these platforms and found that a growing minority of the president’s once-devout backers are now denouncing him and rejecting his recent pleas for peace. Some have called for his arrest or execution, labeling him a “traitor” and a “coward.”
Alarmingly, many of those who are irate about Biden’s supposed electoral theft are still plotting to forcibly prevent him from taking office — with or without Trump’s help.
“We don’t follow you,” another Telegram user wrote, addressing Trump, after the president put out his video urging calm and order. “Be quiet and get out of our way.”--01-16-21: www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/opinion-army-veteran-charged-with-attempted-murder-for-shooting-15-year-old-black-girl-at-trump-rally/ar-BB1cOzXk?li=BBnb7Kz Army Veteran Charged With Attempted Murder for Shooting 15-Year-Old Black Girl at Trump Rally
The many army veterans and law enforcement officers who participated in the insurrectionist attack at the U.S. Capitol confirmed that there are people in the forces who also identify as violent Trump supporters, as does the recent case of an Army veteran being accused of shooting at a Black teen girl during a Trump rally.
Michael McKinney, a 25-year-old man who most recently served in the Iowa National Guard in 2017, is now charged with attempted murder for shooting and wounding a 15-year-old girl at a Trump rally in Des Moines last month.
According to the Associated Press, McKinney was wearing body armor, toting a pistol, had additional loaded magazines on his person and another gun plastered with Trump stickers in his car when he shot the teen during an argument she and her friends’ were having with the rally attendees.
McKinney maintained that he shot the victim in self-defense, while the mother of one of the teens told AP that they had been surrounded by Trump supporters who were shouting racial slurs and threats when the veteran opened fire.--01-16-21: www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/pennsylvania-gop-lawmakers-fostered-false-election-allegations-fueled-capitol-riot-n1254496 Pennsylvania GOP lawmakers fostered false election allegations that fueled Capitol riot Rioters who supported Trump cited false allegations about election issues in Pennsylvania — shared by some of the state’s own Republican lawmakers — as a reason to “storm the Capitol.”--01-16-21 IT NEVER ENDS: slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/01/constitutional-sheriffs-white-supremacists-capitol-riot-insurrection.html Sheriffs Helped Lead This Insurrection. The Club for Growth has supported the campaigns of 42 of the rightwing Republicans senators and members of Congress who voted last week to challenge US election results, doling out an estimated $20m to directly and indirectly support their campaigns in 2018 and 2020, according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics. About 30 of the Republican hardliners received more than $100,000 in indirect and direct support from the group. The Club for Growth’s biggest beneficiaries include Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, the two Republican senators who led the effort to invalidate Joe Biden’s electoral victory, and the newly elected far-right gun-rights activist Lauren Boebert, a QAnon conspiracy theorist. Boebert was criticised last week for tweeting about the House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s location during the attack on the Capitol, even after lawmakers were told not to do so by police. Public records show the Club for Growth’s largest funders are the billionaire Richard Uihlein, the Republican co-founder of the Uline shipping supply company in Wisconsin, and Jeffrey Yass, the co-founder of Susquehanna International Group, an options trading group based in Philadelphia that also owns a sports betting company in Dublin. --01-16-21: www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/capitol-cop-told-rioter-who-entered-the-building-its-your-house-now/ar-BB1cNsI6?li=BBnbfcL Capitol cop told rioter who entered the building 'It's your house now'A man who is suspected of joining the riot at the U.S. Capitol last week told authorities a Capitol Police officer shook his hand as he entered the building and said: 'It's your house now.' DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas-area real estate agent who is facing charges for allegedly being part of the pro-President Donald Trump mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol last week said she's a “normal person" who listened to her president. Jenna Ryan, 50, is accused of “knowingly” entering or remaining in the restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, according to a criminal complaint filed by the FBI in a Washington federal court. Matt DeSarno, special agent in charge of the FBI Dallas office, confirmed that Ryan had turned herself in and that her Carrollton apartment was searched Friday. No personal telephone for Ryan was available, and court records didn't list a lawyer for her as of Friday. Ryan shared photos and videos on social media, including a video in which she says, “We’re gonna go down and storm the Capitol,” in front of a bathroom mirror, according to the FBI criminal complaint. The agent who signed the complaint also noted that Ryan live-streamed a 21-minute Facebook video of her and a group walking toward the Capitol. “We are going to (expletive) go in here,” Ryan said in the video as she approached the top of the stairs on the west side of the Capitol building. “Life or death, it doesn’t matter. Here we go.” --01-16-21: us.yahoo.com/news/violating-rights-woman-jailed-refusing-154643996.html ‘You are violating my rights!’ Florida woman jailed — again — for refusing to wear a maskCindy Falco Dicorrado may have wanted a bagel at an Einstein Bros. Bagels near Boca Raton but she may have had to settle for eating one in a Palm Beach County jail the next morning. Dicorrado, 62, who lives in Boynton Beach, was arrested Thursday morning after she refused to leave an Einstein bagel shop at 9795 Glades Rd. because she refused to wear a mask. There is a mask mandate in Palm Beach County due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is currently surging in Florida. Palm Beach County has had more than 96,000 confirmed cases and more than 2,000 deaths since the novel coronavirus pandemic began, according to the Florida Department of Health. But Dicorrado, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit, was inside the bagel shop “screaming” at customers and employees “you are violating my rights” and “you are violating the constitution” after manager Ann Marie Campian repeatedly asked her to wear the required mask.
