Miami is informing other teams that it is willing to listen on Stanton, Gordon, and Prado but will not entertain offers on Yelich and Ozuna at this time, according to ESPN.com’s Buster Olney (via Twitter).

Please don't let Boston get Stanton. I think it would be fun to have him on that team in Fenway. Would add a lot to the rivalry.

Carlos Beltran officially announced his retirement yesterday. Glad he finally got that ring before he hung em up.

Carlos Beltran officially announced his retirement yesterday. Glad he finally got that ring before he hung em up. Hall of Fame? If he hadn't started running into injuries just about as soon as he hit the north side of thirty, I'd say yes...and that weird season he had the first season with the Mets at age 28 also hurt him...Those two issues came at an awful cost to his counting stats and to his longevity as a premier CF...The Betran from age 22 to 30 was a shoe-in, going .281/.357/.496 with an incredible 275/37 (.881) stolen base mark while averaging .281/29/108 and 30 SB per 162 games (and averaging 147 games per season on the field....But the later years, 277/.342/.472 with 6 SB per season and defense that disintegrated quickly...and he only averaged 118 games per year for the final ten years of his career...Even giving him extra points for being the best CF in baseball for about a six-seven year run and extra points for switch hitting I feel like he falls a bit short of the mark...Excellent player in his prime...But so was Don Mattingly, and that's never going to get him into the Hall of Fame...

The singer's pitch was all over the place and Beckett thought he was being mocked.

My thoughts on Ohtani...
While Ohtani is definitely an interesting player, he's part side-show and part baseball player at this point. I really can't say that I know what any team should expect from him. His career batting line in Japan is .286/.358/.500. Not bad, not over-whelmingly great, either. He hit 22 HR in 382 PA in 2016, but only 8 in 231 PA in 2017. His last two seasons he has hit for a much higher average @.322 and .332 than in the previous seasons.
He's been a terrific pitcher in Japan to date at 42-15; 2.52, though in 2017 he only got to pitch in 5 games (all starts), finishing 3-2; 3.20 with 29 K and a whopping 19 BB in 25.3 innings, but he has never even come close to struggling with his control before then.
Finally, he last played in the field in 2014, and that was only for 8 games in the outfield, so it would seem as though his managers or himself made a decision to keep him out of the field. Is that to avoid injury or overwork, or is he not a very good outfielder?
One last thought. He really needs to make up his mind. Is it Otani or the recently report Ohtani???
