I’ll add SS to the list. Volpe handles it well, but Arias has a cannon. Volpe may have to move for him…to second, yes let Gleyber find a new home… Yeah, that's another option if the Yankees want to move Volpe. You know my thoughts about Torres. I like him, but if the Yankees re-sign Soto, it's my opinion that they might look to save money at 2B. I've been an advocate for giving Judge reps at 1st for a couple of seasons. Us old guys remember when the Yankees borught Mickey closer to home to save some stress on his body. As for Torres, I think lots of us are overreacting to a bad start. I never was the Torres booster that some of our friends are, but I know he can hit. It really will come down to tthe budget.

I think one of the OFers may become a 1Bman. Who knows? It might even be Judge even though he is a good OFer. The Yankees have a lot of money invested in him. Playing1B would be a lot less stressful than CF. Jones could be another option to play 1B. Anyway, I really hope that the Yankees make re-signing Soto their #1 priority. The Yankees could give Jones some time at 1B and see if he could become a Clay Bellinger type, that's good defensively in the OF and 1B. Good problem to have really. If the Yankees retain Soto or Verdugo they have outfield with Soto / Verdugo, Jones and Doininguez...3 left fanded bats. And with Wells and OC you got 5 guys hitting from the left side. With that configuration having a right handed 1B ain't so bad. Jones is still young and athletic. I'd let me him stay where he is. Of course this is all hot air right now.

Good post, nothing wrong with harmless speculating. If they re-sign Soto, I'm not sure if the Yankees re-sign Verdugo for the $ame reason I think they won't sign Torres.

The Bellinger lad is hitting .214 with 4 HR, a 95 OPS+…

What's surprising is the Dodgers playing poorly. You would think after uber acquisitions they would l have a better record then 12W, 11L

I would suppose that allowed him to be better prepared the next time around. I didn’t expect all the smiling and interplay with the fans. He’s still just a kid… and a good one…

I haven't seen any retribution calls on him and close calls often seem to go his way. It does seem to me that Yankee hitters react to called strikes more frequently than other teams, even when they are strikes. Anyone else feel like this or am I seeing things.

I noticed that Volpe's struggles started immediately following the game where he got shafted twice by the home plate umpire, which prompted Volpe to turn and demonstrably state "that's twice"! Since then, he has been out of balance, more aggressive on balls out of the strike zone, and appears to be guessing. He is definitely in a slump and not taking the ball to right field, rolling over pitches more often.

I remember reading a supposedly true tale of Ted Williams at the plate and a catcher admonishing and umpire with “How can that bf a ball?” The umpire replying, “Mr. Williams didn’t swing at it.” It’s hard to believe that umpires that at times want to be the show are giving a 25 year old player that kind of respect, but he seems to have earned it with his discerning eye.
