Can't keep up with these extensions. If a Gricuk could chuck wood...

Can't keep up with these extensions. Getting back to this subject...Grichuk's career slash is .247/.297/.490. We can assume that the .490 was the draw for the team to want to extend him...He has played all three outfield positions, so one can assume he plays the outfield quite well, but that's quite a commitment to a player that seems to swing for the fences yet has only produced mid-twenties HR power and has never driven in more than 68 runs in a season, nor scored more than 66 in a season...

Jacob DeGrom doing what he did last year, except this year the Mets actually score some runs when he pitches. No runs allowed in his first two starts, and 31 consecutive starts allowing three runs or less.
On the other side of the ledger, David Robertson is making the Yankees look pretty insightful with three terrible outings in a row for the Phillies. Yesterday he came in for the ninth inning of a tie game with Washington, allowed a leadoff single and then walked three straight batters to lose the game. The guy he walked to force in the winning run has never had a hit in the major leagues and was sent back to AAA Fresno after the game. That'll teach him.

Yikes, what contract is worse? Chris Davis or Ellsbury?

Yikes, what contract is worse? Chris Davis or Ellsbury? Probably Davis. At least Ellsbury isn't actually hurting the team by playing. How long will the Orioles hold on to this guy? Now watch him have a breakout game today against the Yankees.

Speaking of bad contracts, the Mets still have 17 more years of July 1 million-dollar paydays for Bobby Bonilla. We may reach a point soon where the Yankees will consider bringing him aboard for a Tulowitzki-type deal.

Plus, whatever that crap is that he stuffs in his lower lip makes him look like he should be on Duck Dynasty as rich Uncle Chris...Or maybe a modern day Jethro Bodine on a remake of Beverly Hillbillies. A new Mr. Drysdale could strike him out on every episode. “Geez willikers, Mr. Drysdale, you’re gonna get in that Hall of Flames like yer grandpa did”! “Maybe, Jethro. But I’d bet you Miss Hathaway could strike your lame ass out”...
