Just mentioned during the Mets game that rookie first sacker Pete Alonso is the first player in MLB history to have 10 extra base hits in his first 10 games. Who even thinks to look that up? He looks pretty impressive in the early going. The first four guys in the Mets lineup have surnames ending in the letter "O." Nimmo, Alonso, Cano and Conforto. That's probably a first too. Mets, Braves, Phillies, Nationals. NL East is stacked this year! It's an interesting division for sure, and vastly improved over last year. Plus everybody gets to beat up on the Marlins. Hate to admit the Mets have some nice young players. Where the heck did Jeff MacNeill come from?

I once recall a team with more “O” names. They had: Zeppo Bimbo Yobo Bingo Bozo Ocho Bobo Milo Miko Chocko Loko Kinko (Want to meet her. Badly) Gogo Jimbo Jumbo (did not want to meet her so much) Bryce Harper says “That’s a clown team, bro!” Maybe so... but I’d still like to meet Kinko. If she’s really a girl. Especially if Gogo is a girl and she comes along. Dome’s getting to me, I swear... Get a room, Inger!!👅

I'm not sure who to give the dirty old man award to this year, dome or inger?

I'm not sure who to give the dirty old man award to this year, dome or inger? I think DoMe still holds the title, but I suspect he is using PEDs. With Inger, what you see is what you get.

I am the Hank Aaron of filth. Dome is Barry Bonds. I was surprised to discover that we are both black, other than that all is as expected...
Still love the beginning of “The Jerk”. “I was born a poor black child”... if only racial relations could be that relaxed at all times...Humanity needs a sense of humor about ourselves...

Eovaldi gives up five runs in the first three innings, but Boston comes back with three in the third. Red Sox starting pitchers woes continue.

Toronto has one of the coolest-named players in Socrates Brito.

Whit Merrifield of the Royals had his 31 game hitting streak snapped with an 0 for 6. Longest streak in the majors since Dan Uggla had 33 in 2011. And Uggla only hit .234 that year.
There have only been 24 longer hitting streaks than Merrifield's. Just ahead of him at 32 is our old friend Hal Morris at 32 (although he did it for the Reds.)

I wanted us to trade for Merrifield, too...I’d be pissed after he went 0-6, though this year that might establish him as a “real Yankee”. Well, that is if he struck out all 6 times... Uggla has to have the lowest BA for a player with a hitting streak of at least 30 games. Maybe the longest for a streak of over 20 games. Do I hear 15 games? Anyone going for 12?...

Merrifield is s nice player. Versatile, good glove, hits for some average and almost single-handedly maintains the concept of the stolen base.

The five longest Yankees hitting streaks are: Joe DiMaggio -- 56 in 1941 Hal Chase -- 33 in 1907 Joe Gordon -- 29 in 1942 Derek Jeter -- 25 in 2004 Don Mattingly -- 24 in 1986
Stuff I get to do on an off-night for the Yankees.
