Does that mean you’ve never heard the phrase “It’s too big, Russ” before ?... Easy, Inger...this is a family show. The network says I can get one “It’s too big” per episode...

Reminds me of the time I told my nephew he was a Homo sapiens and he ran off crying to his mother...

This has got to be the first time a black guy has been reprimanded for dropping an N-bomb on a white guy. Is this a landmark for racial progress?

We now know that a black guy calling a white guy the N-word is half as offensive as someone using homophobic language, five times less offensive than making slant eyes in the dugout, and three times less offensive than writing “Tu eres maricon” on eyeblack.

Thanks for figuring out the formula, Kaybli. I guess we can develop a system of analytics for insults now.

DeGrom to the IL with elbow issues. Christian Yelich with his 11th HR. And our old pal Mike Pagliarulo fired as the Marlins hitting coach. Miami is like a halfway house for ex-Yankees.

DeGrom to the IL with elbow issues. Uh oh. Not a good look for the Mets. Getting an MRI.

Jeter channeling his inner Boss.

I had to go back and check on Pags' record. He did get a ring as the regular third baseman for the Twins in 1991 and had a decent post-season with two home runs. He hit a combined 60 home runs for the Yanks in 86-87, nearly half his career total. I always liked the guy and had hopes he could approximate Graig Nettles. Obviously it was not to be, but he had his moments.
Pags and Rags back in the day. Hard to believe that he's 59 years old.

Jeter channeling his inner Boss. Pags first 4 seasons in MLB, with the Yankees he hit .239, .238, .238, .234. He wound up his 11 year career with a .241. Pretty consistent if not all that good. He surprised me the year he hit 32 HR for us though... Not quite as consistent as the previously discussed Khris Davis, but more so than most players... Do they still print that little Baseball Digest magazine? I was just wondering because this reminded me that every season they would do an article on the biggest batting gainers and losers... “Ralph Nerd hit .321 in 2017, and slipped to .204, a difference of .117 points and is our biggest batting loser for 2018. We hope he get return to his previous skill level so we can include him in our biggest batting gainers next year”...

Your mention of Baseball Digest sent me scrambling to the archives, Inger. Lo and behold, it is still with us --and in print format! It is the longest running strictly baseball publication, having been around since 1942. It has had only four editors in that time, the current one being former Yankee PR guy Rick Cerrone (not the old catcher, who only has one "r" in his name.)
Man, I used to read that thing ages ago --"The Game I'll Never Forget" remember that one. I need to check, maybe they still make Spalding Baseball Guides.
