I had to go back and check on Pags' record. He did get a ring as the regular third baseman for the Twins in 1991 and had a decent post-season with two home runs. He hit a combined 60 home runs for the Yanks in 86-87, nearly half his career total. I always liked the guy and had hopes he could approximate Graig Nettles. Obviously it was not to be, but he had his moments. Pags and Rags back in the day. Hard to believe that he's 59 years old. I know Bob Sheppard liked saying Pag's name when he came up to bat. Sheppard was a classic.

This slow start in Boston is looking more and more grim. They’ve been outscored by 40 runs. Only the Marlins (-48) have been outscored by more runs...

Some news out of Boston. Nathan Eovaldi has "loose bodies" in his elbow and may require surgery. Welcome to our world, Boston.
Normally I hate to see any player injured. But the Yankees situation is so bizarre that the only way to level the playing field is for other teams to sustain massive injuries.
If Boston lost Moreland, Bogaerts, Devers, Betts, Martinez, Benintendi, Vazquez, Sale, and Workman right this minute, they would almost be as damaged as the Yankees are now. Not quite, but almost.

Apropos of nothing other than that I want to think about something other than Yankee injuries, I saw a blurb on MLBTV earlier today that Billy Hamilton was going to race The Freeze when the Royals come to Atlanta in July.
I would be surprised if the Royals actually let this happen, but it's very cool old school if they do. The Freeze is great -- the only guy who could replace Chief Nokahoma -- and it would be fun to watch. Probably too much fun for MLB.

That's the infield version of the Kevin Mitchell play. I saw Galvis a lot in Philly and he can definitely pick it.

We are two ships passing in the night, Chi. Watching the same game. A couple of baseball junkies. I'm in good company. I'll watch a Marlins-Reds game in late September if it's the only thing on. And come up with some pretext to have a rooting interest.

Here's one even Elias Sports Bureau may not have a record for. Leonys Martin of Cleveland got hit on the same spot on his foot in both the first and second inning.
If that happened to a Yankee he would have a broken foot and be out for three months.
