It would be interesting to read that Cano thread from years ago when he signed with Seattle. All the prognostications of his future. Exactly why they yankees didnt want to do 10 years. Yep. And I was idiot enough to say, “do it”!!! Where would we be now? More importantly, where would Torres (or Andujar) be???

And there is the Britton we’ve been waiting for! Nasty stuff...nuclear waste stuff!!!

Robertson has recovered nicely from his mid-season slump...his stuff hasn’t been nuclear waste, but it did come from DuPont’s waste containers...I’m sure some of those baseballs will give birth to balls with defective stitches...

I’m thinking Luke Voit is at least the equal of Greg Bird around the first base bag. Neither one is going to win a gold glove, both are adequate. Voit MAY turn out to be a bit better...Too soon to tell for both... I thought Bird was good defensively, but he seemed to not know when to leave the bag to catch an errant throw, and not good on the scoop out of the dirt....Voit does come off the bag when necessary, and I don't know about throws in the dirt....Voit has a good chance to be the equal if not a bit better defensively imo...

Ex-Yankee prospect Ben Gamel has become a very useful role player...especially right there, as he struck out... 🤓

You really didn't, though. No one was thinking 10 years, except Boras initially (10 for 310 million) and then Cano and his new alphabet agent. Most advocated for 6 to 8 years. Yankees supposedly offered 7 for 189 million (Jeter's contract) the year prior to his free agency. I wanted the Yankees to trade Cano two years prior to his FA for a haul of younglings. Alas, the Yankees got nothing for him.

I really wish the Yankees would keep Betances as the eighth inning guy. I'd prefer Robertson to close.

Welcome, Utah. I didn’t think you were coming to the game thread tonight...You and Anthony both coming through the turnstiles to watch the final sword being driven into the bull... I was here and back with college football games, which......very nearly I love as much as baseball....I know you guys have an NFL thread, but I will probably never go there....college football is entirely another matter....the pageantry...the passion...nothing quite like it...… I tired of the NFL players with their multi-million dollar contracts, imagining that they were important beings...so important they would engage in social politics....I respond to them in the only way I can...I will not buy tickets....I will not watch on TV...I will not buy the products advertised....they are to me a non-entity....I do not expect to have much effect, but one must take a stand sometimes...
