Looks like Tanaka is pitching himself out of consideration to start the Wild Card Game, that 1st inning was dreadful.

I would hope a single game doesn’t actually make the decision. It should be weighted against the overall quality of the player’s performance with the knowledge that anyone can have an off day...

I don't think Cashman & Boone were going to pick Tanaka anyway, so this performance will make it easier on them. |

Maybe hit them with 50 shades of Graaaayyyyyyy? With Boone and Cashman coyly “disagreeing” as to the use of an opener, and Boone saying the starter might only go once through the line up...It has occurred to me the a “starter”, Gray for instance...might open the game with short-term aspirations. Odd decisions seem to be the new normal... And now I’m thinking...maybe CC would be the “once through the order” secret weapon, too... I’m thinking too much tonight...Head is starting to hurt... |
