Multiple terrible calls against McCutchen. He knows the strike zone you bum! Cutch also swung at a fastball up out of the zone. Which is what Alvarado tries to get guys to do, but that at bat was basically stolen from him...

Maybe, just maybe you were wondering about the MLB record for passed balls by a catcher in a MLB season. The most since 1897 was 33 by JC Martin in 1965. His 33 is tied for 221st in total MLB history, with all of those ahead of him coming in 1897 or earlier. That all-time record was set in 1883 by a guy named Kemmler. I forgot his first name. I think it was Rudy, but does it really matter? More importantly, what year did the catcher’s mitt get invented or come into usage?..
