Kaybli, while those numbers are off the charts, and of course a small sample size, Boston was consistently good at hitting with RISP all season long. They led all of baseball with a .289 BA with RISP. The only teams close were Houston (.285) and, surprisingly, Minnesota (.283.) The Yankees only hit .253 with RISP for the season. It wasn't just our imaginations that the Yanks seemed so frequently to not get the big hit. It was one of the major differences between Boston and the Yankees this year.

I was aware of those seasonal numbers. But hitting with RISP is not a repeatable skill. It varies wildly from year to year. Its not something you can go out and say "Hey, lets get these certain players who hit well with RISP". I prefer OPS with RISP anyway.

Yeah, if you go by OPS with RISP, it is a much closer result, with Boston at .792 and the Yanks at .781. You're right, RISP hitting can be quite variable, and maybe next year the Yankees crush Boston in that category. The Red Sox were nothing special in that in 2017. When teams put together monster seasons, a whole lot of things have to fall into place. I don't think this Red Sox team is going to be dynastic the way the Yanks of the mid-90s to early 2000s were. Any more than the Cubs or Astros are. But they aren't likely to fall off the map either. Nor will the Yankees.

I don't mean to sound like the Red Sox have lucked their way into coming 2 games of winning the WS. It may have come across that way. They just have had a lot of things go their way, which happens to any championship team anyway. I'm just praying that the Dodgers can somehow come back from this deficit. Or I am going to be a very bitter man, unfortunately.

Hitting with runners in scoring position and records in one run and two run games are usually numbers that give a strong indication of how much s team may improve or regress the next season.
That’s because, as Kaybli mentioned, those are skills that are not likely to be repeated. It’s just as likely that the Yanks will got better in RISP situations next year and the Red Sox worse.
I don’t have any idea st this moment what the Yanks and Red Sox records were in close games this year, but I’m willing to guess the Red Sox out-performed is in those stats this year, too...And are likely to regress next year...

(BTW, Dodger Stadium really is a wonderful place to watch baseball.) This thing could still turn around. But it's not worth being bitter about it, Kaybli If Boston takes this one, it's just more motivation for the Yankees moving forward. Keeps us from getting complacent. We have many pleasant years of war ahead of us.

I have to ask. For anyone else that’s watching tonight, did you think that play by Bogaerts was a “great” play that stole a base hit? I saw it as a play that should have been made by any starting shortstop in MLB. It was well done, but... REALLY? It seems he draws raves anytime the ball doesn’t roll up his arm and go down his shirt, to me..

REALLY? JB, Jr., AGAIN??? [img class="smile" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/gszgVuvxUtZEFrgJSkis.gif"] That kid that started the game for the Dodgers was so great for 7 innings and Jansen can't get through the bottom of the Red Sox lineup.
