Not having Andujar get 1 AB in this game really stings.

Hello darkness my old friend, baseball season's over again...
So close. Soooo close. Walking out of the stadium I was thinking of so many what ifs. What if Britton hadn't given up that silly homer to Vasquez? What if Sanchez had hit that flyout a little harder? What if Stanton wasn't a complete waste of space in the clutch? Oh, well. There will be a lot of time to replay that game over and over again in the winter months. I still had fun at the end of the game. It was good we put up a fight even though we came up short.
It was a good season. 100 wins ain't no joke. Being at the wild card game was fun. The future looks bright. I know the Red Sox haven't seen the last of us in the playoffs! We will be back next year stronger than ever! Thank you everyone on this board for contributing and making every game a good time. On to cheering for the Astros and then Hotstove season!

Sorry Kaybli you had to experience that. I was at the New York Rangers Game 6 in 2017 when they lost to the senators and the season was over its a crummy feeling to be at that game. Thanks anthony. I still had a good time. Glad we went. It was so close.

Stanton, the highest paid player on the team was like a deer in the head lights at every big moment. He’s a mistake hitter that good pitchers get out rather easily. I’m not impressed with his first season. A lot of his homers came in blowouts. Saying that, I’m hoping he can shake the choke label next season. He didn’t win many fans this season. Don’t mean to pile on after a disappointing end of the season and he certainly doesn’t merit all the blame. Boone unlike Cora was tentative Andujar didn’t do much and Sanchez has been an enigma. Anyway, the overarching goal was to win and get under the tax threshold and the Yankees accomplished that... Sort of. I’m happy to say that losing still sucks.

Stanton's horrible at bat was the difference...only one strike thrown, yet he struck out.... Give Sanchez similar discredit. He hit a sac fly, but he could have walked to reload the bases. He was homer happy in that at bat, like many others this season...Swung at mostly balls out of the zone... I couldn't tell the strikezone perfectly from the angle I was sitting. So Sanchez could have definitely walked if he was patient? Bummer to hear that.

Tough end to a great season. I still don’t think Boston is much better, if at all, but they had 5 games to prove otherwise and came up short.

They definitely played better and executed better than us this series. But we shoulda kicked their asses if we didn't keep shooting ourselves in the foot over and over again. That and Boone's blunders led to defeat.

Their SP is definitely better as is their infield and catching defense. They are better hitters in crucial situations and have better team speed, better manager and seem to make better in game decisions and they won eight more games during the season including a sweep that put us to sleep in late August. They are quantitatively a better team this season. Had the Yankees really been all in, I bet we could have beaten them, but the main objective this year was to get below the tax threshold so a couple of areas like SP were only partially addressed. I would love to see us pick up Machado and a front line starter via trade, but that’s a separate conversation.
