Boras is no dummy. The money it cost him to get a communications consultant to work with his client is probably less than the lease payment on his McLaren. This is a good story, if not for the actual lack of hustle. Someone will pay him anyway, and I doubt the hustle issue matters to Hal and Cashman at all. But this is a good way to start the spin machine for the PR team for whatever team signs him.

I get what Machado is saying about "fake hustle", because I always though that Pete Rose running to first base after a walk stuff was silly, however, we saw Manny dogging it during the post season. that's different than fake hustle and it didn't look good. Still, it all comes down to his price tag and is it worth it?

Red Sox supposedly courting Paul Goldschmitt. They're not the only ones. Astros, Cards also in the mix. Let's hope he doesn't go to Boston.

I agree with you, hawaiiyank. You have to make the trade that's there and that was Paxton. I doubt the same package would have gotten it done for Syndergaard since the article states the Mets would have to be "blown away" to trade him.

Yeah, I didn't think the same package would have gotten it done but I thought maybe saving him to include in a bigger package deal because I'm not sure what other big trade chips they have left. They traded so many lower tier prospects during the trading period they seem rather thin right now. Not sure if guys like Florial, Loasiga, etc would be as desirable but I'm happy with Paxton.

Probably Andujar. Not sure I would do that.

I really want to keep Andujar. His bat will only get better.

Probably Andujar. Not sure I would do that. I would probably trade Andujar and a couple other prospects for Syndegaard. I know he has injury issues but he's an ace. I just value a top notch pitching staff vs a top notch hitting lineup.

What's the additional surcharge for the Yankees making a trade with the Mets as opposed to other teams? No way the Metsies trade Thor to the Bronx unless Cashman really over pays.

Whatever the Mets would want for Syndergaard, they would want more from the Yanks. The price would likely be too steep. If they are serious about trading him, they must have some doubts about how long he will hold up. I agree with something I think you said awhile back, that the Mets are only maybe two good position players away from being contenders. The pitching is there. They seem to get devastated by injuries almost every year since they won the pennant.

If the Yankees aren’t prepared to break through the $207 mark, then they have no shot at catching Boston, who to their credit aren’t letting the luxury tax stop them from assembling a championship culture. Am I sounding like a broken record yet? If they get Goldschmidt, does Hal throw the towel in or retaliate? Part of me wants Drombowski and company to do it just to see how badly Hal wants to win. Nice potential game of polker about to start I hope.
