Just speculating, but would the addition of Paxton, Happ, Machado and resigning of Robertson be about what everyone would have expected at the minimum? Paxton is almost as risky a pick up as Eovaldi. He's 29 and has all of 41 wins on his resume. A handful of guys with similarity scores at age 29? Well, there's Cory Kluber...and then there's Atlee Hammaker, and Yu Darvish...He could be any one of those. Kluber would be wonderful, but Hammaker never escaped the injury bug, and while he soldiered on for several more seasons he was never right. Darvish? No one knows yet how that story will end, but so far he appears to be crashing and burning...So if we're counting on him as a #2, that's pretty scary IMO. I don't know if Tanaka is still capable of a full season at top speed, and Severino has left us wondering after the second half struggles of last season... That doesn't maybe answer your question, so I'll say...I still like another innings eater at the minimum. Paxton's most was last seasons 160...can he handle more?...

Dunno, but I’m getting this sinking feeling that maybe Hal might cling to this stay below the tax cap idea and sign Lance Lynn or someone along with maybe Soria in the BP, maybe sign Murphy to play second and if it implodes, blame it on guys not performing to expectations. Then I woke up......

Then I woke up...... I modified one word for you. At that point, we totally agree. That could indeed be similar to what we'll see...Murphy feels like Walker part 2. A veteran who's been very reliable on the edge of implosion due to advancing age...

Trash reporting because there is nothing else to write...Quite notable that one article predicts that Harper signs with the Yankees and the other doesn't put them in the top three to sign him...It's like pulling ideas out of your ass to make a headline. Fake news? This is it... (:

Trevor Bauer: only 27, starting to come into his own, stubborn as angry mule and overly self-confident and a bit looney - traits that could make him immune to Sonny Gray disease; and may cost less than other trade targets. I believe Inger mentioned having to take on Kipnis with any Cleveland trade. Bauer is also a mad scientist type and a battler on the mound. Lots of different pitches, changes speeds, and cares about the craft of pitching. Thoughts?

Since the Yanks don't want to trade Andujar or Torres and understandably so, I'm not sure they have what it takes to land Bauer or Kluber.

They're supposedly cutting payroll and want to unload Kipnis. I'm thinking Sonny Gray might be a piece of the puzzle and/or Clint Frazier. Bauer to Yankees

I would take on Kipnis's salary to land Bauer, playing at Yankee Stadium might get him going again. One downside is that Torres is a better 2B than SS, so paying Kipnis at 2B and Gleyber at SS makes the team worse defensively. Is it worth it to add Bauer to the rotation? Tanaka Paxton Severino Bauer C.C.

I like Bauer. He's a notch below Kluber, but he's also much younger. He does come across as something of an asshole but I'd be fine with him being a Yankees' asshole. He wouldn't be the first...Taking on Kipnis to get such a deal done would seem fine to me. Assuming the Yanks will sign Machado to play 3B, Andujar is expendable. I'd be sad to see Andujar go, but the Yankees haven't had, and have rather desperately needed, a ++rotation for years. I don't see why the Indians would take on Gray, but Gray can be traded elsewhere.

Tanaka Paxton Severino Bauer C.C. I understand the defensive concerns (take note Inger, we care about defense, too!), which is why I like signing Hechavarria, who can play anywhere in the infield, but his play at short improves Torres and Andujar. Kipnis can take Neil Walker's place on the bench. And, when CC retires, Jordan Montgomery should be ready to slide back into the rotation. For 2020, Severino, Bauer, and Montgomery all in their 20s, and Paxton and Tanaka would be 31. Another Proponent for Bauer

I’d be surprised if Frazier has any trade value given that he hasn’t been able to stay on the field and there’s no sign that the problem has been resolved.
