She's the best! Whenever I visit her, she insists on cooking some of my favorite Bengali dishes but I took her out tonight.
Yes, I love all the Indian breads including Chapati and Roti but my favorite is Garlic Naan.
I had a cousin we called Garlic Nan. Never brushed her teeth. lol... Each season I grow various kinds of basil...Genovese, Thai(smells of anise and a touch of mint) and Holy basil ( smells of cloves with a hint of citrus). It's traditionally used in dishes such as Thai Pad Krapao. I won't be growing Holy Basil this season. Trying to limit growth to a few peppers and most frequent used herbs like tarragon, thyme, chervil, basils, oregano, sage, savory, and parsley. I like cilantro, but it's difficult to grow requiring cool temperature, it's easy to bolt..

I miss growing herbs, except for mint, which just takes over everything. I do miss my Mojitos though.

I loved mowing through that patch… took smell of dog duty off the tires, too…

San Marzano/Roma are great paste tomatoes in making sauce. Wanted to limit my growth to make it more manageable. Indeed sliced tomatoes, sliced fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil is delicious on hot summer days. And who can resist home made pizza? Yummy!!! I loved picking cherry tomatoes, blister them in olive oil/garlic toss in pasta and a handful of basil. Adding cheese if desired. A quick meal on hot summer nights. Ever tried hot honey drizzled on pizza? Try it, brand of choice is Brooklyn's own Mikes Extra Hot Honey and Bees Knees Spicy Honey, Hot honey is also great drizzled on barbecue ribs/chicken (yummy on wings).

l Don’t let him fool you. He’s Miracle Whip, at least here in Colorado. I don’t eat either one, but my wife prefers Miracle Whip… There are exceptions. I can eat it in egg salad or tuna if it’s kept kind of dry…. Miracle Whip isn't mayo...it's a miracle. BTW...Best Foods is running an ad campaign now featuring Kate McKinnon suggesting different ways to use mayo, in which she happily downs a huge spoonful. Ugh... I like McKinnon, I wish she was still on SNL. I like mayo too, but I wouldn't just eat a spoonful of it.

Please so not speak so openly about eating mayo, Inger has PTSD for condiments. Unless it is well done beef or chicken fingers with BBQ sauce, he gets a little shaky. Actually I'm with him re mayo...tuna or egg salad is about it for me. My favorite condiment is from your home...Tabasco. Mayo is a must for me on egg or tuna salads. There was a food stand in Manhattan where I'm pretty sure the food server put Tabasco Sauce on shish kabob, it was delicious.

Yum! I just had a St. Joseph custard cream zeppoli for dessert, and it was delicious. Sounds delectable .... It was. They are getting expensive. I can only imagine how many homemade St. Joseph custard cream zeppolis my Grandma would have made for what it costs to by a dozen.

San Marzano tomatoes are excellent. Did you ever watch Stanley Tucci's CNN show? It's very good. Anyway, it's offical Lauren, you now made me get hungry on not one but two message boards. I remember on the YES board you telling us about some of the food you made.

Yes, I like Thai, and Malaysian. A co worker gave me some homemade lemon and mango pickles it was delicious. She introduced me to "Golden Temple Wheat flour" in making Chapati / Roti. Various spices are needed to make authentic Indian cuisine. I bet your mom is a fantastic cook. She's the best! Whenever I visit her, she insists on cooking some of my favorite Bengali dishes but I took her out tonight.

When I was still working, one of my jobs included managing a supplier who was based in India. I travelled to India several times and invited my counterpart and his wife into my home for an authentic Indian dinner. I prepared most of the food but went to an Indian restraunt to procure the bread. He raved about it but suspect he was just being kind.

SNL has had some very funny women in its cast...Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Cheri Oteri, Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer, Jan Hooks and, of course, Gilda Radner. Julia Louis-Dreyfus also had a stint there before Seinfeld.

I knew someone that was given an Italian American slang nicknamed that means smelly. I was in an elevator with him one time and actually felt nauseous and felt like vomiting. The smell was so bad that I thought I stepped in crap. lol! I can laugh about it now, but at the time it wasn't funny. In my opinion, the guy smelled worse than a horse after a race.

Yes...mayo is mandatory for egg, tuna & potato salads, although I also like German style potato salad. But I'll usually add tabasco to all of those.

I forgot to mention Maya Rudolph. "Bronx Beat" with Amy Poehler was hilarious...and spot on.
