I can't find it now but I read on twitter that The Yankees injured list right now (including Judge) would be projected by WAR to be better than 17 teams in baseball.

Hopefully we get Sanchez, Stanton and Andujar back soon. I think we probably won’t see Judge again until the all star break.

The first wave of injuries, I figured the Yankees could handle. Then as it piled up with Stanton and Sanchez and Andujar, I started getting angry about why this was all happening, but still thought they could muddle through well enough until guys started returning.
Losing Judge just sucks the life out of it. He is their most important player for so many reasons. Last year when he was out (and Sanchez was gone for much of that same period) the Yankees were a slightly above .500 team. And that was with Stanton and Hicks and Andujar and Didi all healthy. I know we have a hot Frazier and Lemahieu that we did not have last year, but it's still a big dropoff.
If this gang can actually manage to hang together well enough to make the post-season, Boone will be Manager of the Year by unanimous vote.
But these unending injuries are dis-spiriting. I've never heard of even an NFL team with this proportion of key players unable to perform.

The only projected regular position players to not get injured yet are Gleyber, Gardner, and Voit. I've never seen anything like it.

Not even close, in any professional sport I am aware of. And remember, Gardner was not necessarily supposed to be an every day player either. It just seems like it now with the avalanche of injuries.

GF put it best. Today's lineup looks like a split squad lineup in Fort Myers.

In his wildest dreams, I am sure Michael Tauchman did not envision himself batting fifth for the New York Yankees three weeks into the season.
Even in my nightmares I didn't see that one coming.

But is it better than today's lineup? LeMahieu 2b Voit 1B Gardner CF Frazier LF Tauchman RF Urshela 3b Ford DH Romine C Wade SS To introduce a new term, our line up is now suffering from what I shall coin "Urshela Creep", a condition whereby a marginal player is put on the field for defense during a period of extreme need and is assigned the ninth spot in the batting order. Through additional injuries Urshela is slowly moved up from ninth to eighth to seventh and so on as to have now "crept" up to the number six position. In addition we have the condition of "Tauchman Injection" whereby rather than creeping up the order, he has had a few impressive at bats and is suddenly "injected" into the fifth spot. Similarly, we are experiencing another injection of the hot bat of Frazier into a spot no one would have predicted as he was stumbling his way back to Scranton with his .150 hitting in spring training. When it comes to the number nine spot in the order, it seems that no matter what others may or may not be capable of doing, Tyler Wade is always there with a .160-ish batting average. He will NOT be denied his rightful place in the order. Brett Gardner has now been moved in the opposite direction, to third as the Yankees seek whatever semblance of veteran presence and power they can for that spot in the order. Mike Ford is batting seventh solely on his ability to draw the occasional base on balls, and we can assume the reason Voit is batting second has little to with his foot speed. If Clara Peller were still alive today, she surely would be making the unanswerable query, "Where's the beef"???

Aaron Judge placed on injured list with ‘pretty significant’ oblique strain
Aaron Judge joined the party of the Yankees’ walking wounded Sunday, going on the injured list with a “pretty significant” strain to his oblique, manager Aaron Boone said. Boone would not speculate on a timetable for Judge’s return, which does not bode well for the outfielder, who went down on a swing Saturday.
Infielder Thairo Estrada was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. It appears Tyler Wade will serve as the fourth outfielder for the time being.
