As long as Ellsbury is on this roster, we'll need this injury thread before spring training even starts. If Ellsbury had been a Hanna-Barbara character, he’d have been Boo-Boo Bear. A nursery rhyme? Humpty Dumpty. If he were a law it would be Murphy’s. One of the Ten Commandments or a promise, he’d be broken. If he was a car he’d fail to start in the demolition derby and just sit there getting smashed. Or maybe try to make a right turn in a NASCAR race. On the TV show Survivor, he simply wouldn’t. The movie Castaway would have had a much sadder ending, even Wilson would have abandoned him much sooner. Coconuts would have found Jacob’s head, fingers, and toes with regularity and even a non-poisonous snake would have poisoned him. Worse yet, he’d be allergic to sand. He is “The Titanic” of the Yankees, even in the presence of Greg Bird, who is the picture of health by comparison. He probably has posters of Bird, Rocco Baldelli and a hospitalized Evel Kneivel on his walls and eats only the most scrambled eggs, with pieces of shell intact. He is a turtle without a shell, a hermit crab whose abandoned his home, a virtual worm in a robin’s beak...A fly with the swatter directly aligned for the fatal swat. Yet, to the bank he goes with regularity, and now perhaps he’ll be making as much money as the most desirable free agents this season. You know what? He’s certainly not stupid...nor poor... |

And it says I posted 12 hours ago a good 5 hours after Meredith reported King was injured. Get your facts straight, GF! |
